Writing chapter two of {Ray Of Moonlight} because I need to stop procrastinating. Once again ANY criticism is very welcome I have no idea what Iām doingā¤ļøāØ
{Fae had latched onto his hand and beckoned him to the woods. (With some shock and fear) he turned his horse to the woods and followed.
The woods were getting thicker and more difficult to ride in the further he went. He had to get off his horse and guid him by hand. but suddenly the trees grew very thin and he soon came foot to vine with some sharp thick menacing bramble.
His face scrunched into mild disgust at the sight of it, and he looked back up to find that Fae had already crossed it and was staring at him. She tilted her head in confusion, then She furrowed her brows as if she were saying āwhy arenāt you crossing? You should be here by now?ā As if he was staring in confusion at a door knob.
He stood there for a moment, looked at his horse looked back down and then knelt to the ground(to Faes confusion) and began writing something in the dirt. His finger glided across the ground with perfect precision. And just as he drew the last shape the ground started to shift under his fingers!
Faes eyes widened in shock and wonder as Rae held his hands higher and higher the dirt melding to his will like clay and *POP* a bridge wide enough for his horse right over top of it all.
He brushed off his hands on his shirt and nonchalantly walked over top as if what he did was nothing at all. Fae stood there with her mouth halfway open simply starting at the man. her eyes were full of starsā¦.no they were full of the whole dang Milky Way at this point.
He lead his horse right past her and stood at her side eyes closed very poor hiding his flattery at the shockā¦..and he stood thereā¦ā¦and waitedā¦.he then looked at her in confusion.
āWell then. Shall we continue to your home young one?ā
He gave a soft smile raising a hand to loosely point at her. But she once again tilted her head and raised an eyebrow. She held out her arms and made a wideeee twirl to showcase the whole spot of land.
And thatās when Rae came to the only conclusion leftā¦.this?ā¦.āTHIS WAS YOUR HOME???????ā He quickly whipped his head around to look for a responsible adult but instead all he saw was, A small hill with a cave in it and small pond. all of it was all surrounded thick bramble bushes.
He looked at her jaw slacked he was practically about to swoon from the thought that this child lived here! Now was he being dramaticā¦ā¦.yes but any person would be concerned heās just concerned with a little extra flavorrrr.
āW-well hahah thatās funny uhm whereā¦..are your parents? Uh your master? Your family? Anyone?ā āAnd where isā¦..your house?ā
He sounds as if heās gonna have heart attack. This girl looked barley over 13! The outrage!!!! He wasnāt the most shocked that a child was alone it was a sad thing that plagued every kingdom. he was furious at the people who passed by here! They saw her and instead of āoh thereās a child lost in these woods thereās not a single town near by surely we should contact the kingdoms child guardians she clearly needs helpā they thought āduuuh deer thing is cursed spooookyā (these are Raeās thoughts not mine I would have been much more vulgar)
He looked at her desperately hoping for a cabin with a lovely little family to be across that hill but-no :3 Fae grabbed his forearm and started to drag him around. First to the pond and the little crescent shaped island, then to the stone slab she lays on to sun bathe, then to the cave and the little indent in the cave wall that made a lovely bunk, and her little storage basket.
The basket was clearly ment to hold a baby but was instead full of little trinkets, make shift tools, nuts n berries, and some baby books and goat milk(long spoiled)
He looked at Fae who was happy as ever hoping slightly from one hoof to another, then he put a hand on her shoulder, eyes full of worry and asked firmly one more time.
āFaeā¦ā¦do you live with, talk to, or even just know anyone?. . .ā
She looked at him her face in deep thought, her eyes looked far off into nothing, as if he were made of glass. Then she shook her head and spoke hoarse broken words in an attempt to respond.
āBur ning. . . Begging. .ā
She put a hand to her jawline and mouth in very deep thought eyes locked on the floor. though she didnāt look sorrowful at all only determined to find the right word to use
She lit up and held her hand in fists in the air excitedly
āBut he left. Donāt meet him. Only once then left.ā āJust me if thatā¦wachaskingā
She said that last part as if it were one word as she lowered her hands Infront of her and held them together. She looked so very proud of herself for that last part, like it was some secret code or cool phrase people say.
āSo your telling meā¦.that youāve been hereā¦.ALONE forā¦.for your whole life?ā āIs that what your telling me r-right nowā¦.ā
Yeah he was mortified but alsoā¦ā¦fascinated. Actually he was absolutely intrigued. Though her description was extremely vague he had a sneaking suspicion that needed to be addressed.
(She once again says the last words as if they were one) Rae looks to his left then to his right then he puts his hands behind his back ruminating on his own thoughts. Then he decides itās worth it and digs through his horses bag pulling out a vial of dark pinkish liquid and a sliver needle like thing.
āDear Fae may I..test something if you please.ā āBefore you answer I must say this will probably hurt a little so just keep that in mindā
He stepped closer awaiting what was hopefully a-
She way very exited to be doing something with another person she clearly didnāt care what said thing was.
āThank you very much dear Faeā
He stood before her (mildly on his toes) before he dipped the needle in the vial, took the needle up to her cheek, lightly steadied the other side of her face with his free hand, he did one poke drawing the smallest drop of blood. Then a little bit of scraping of the skin, then he was done!
He said like a doctor giving a child a shot. Before he looked at the needle he rummaged through the bag on his horse pulling out a small colorful piece of cloth. He dabbed the prick and scratch lightly till the bleeding had ended.(Fae really couldnāt care less)
But the needle had changed color entirely! It was no longer silver with a pink liquid on it, it was now entirely cyan! He held the needle up to the light of the now setting sun. He raised an eyebrow shifting his head left to right examining the thing before he placed it back into his bag.
He looked star stuck, in awe, absolutely ecstatic! He was correct this is one in a million thousand! His smile was going from ear to ear. If you had heard his squeal you would have thought a dog had lost his squeaker toy.
āSay Fae do you know what this means what this needle tests!!!ā
She started absently and without though(the sequel) tilting her head one little ear raised in the ear the other folded to the side of her head.
āFae! This says youāre human! But you have the features of a deer! Fae! Y- your yo-OH MY GOODNESSSSSā
He was jumping a bit like a little kid
āFae! Youāre not a Minotaur! Youāre a-a chimera! YOUR A WORKING LIVING H U M A N CHIMERAā
Raeās words had become so loud and high pitched you could barely understand him (he said āYouāre a-a chimera! YOUR A WORKING LIVING H U M A N CHIMERAā) he was shaking her by her shoulders and absolutely freaking out- he suddenly stopped and looked mortified and embarrassed by his sudden giddyness and he quickly turned his head away coughing and clearing his throat like he wasnāt just loosing his mind
But the redness drained from his face when a different solemn expression crossed his features and he stood there in silence for a moment. Fae lowered her face to look at his. She was confused and concerned after all he was so happy just a moment ago?
āIs k-ai-m-era bad thing? Can I not k-ai-m-era?ā
Rae look up snapping out of his thoughts before putting on a nervous smile waving his hands in-front of him.
āNo no no of course not youāre a scientific and magical wonder! Your amazing!!! Itās just thatā¦..thatā¦uhm. . .ā āā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ tell you what Faeā¦you seem to like talking to me yeah?ā
āYes I do! People get scared get mad then throw stuff and run very mean never talkā
She crossed her arms with some sass like she was scolding some coworker who was full of himself. Rae looked kind-of nervous as he raised a hand to her shoulder hesitating in the air before placing it firmly.
āWell they Faeā¦..how would like toā¦.join me on my journey? How would that sound?ā āIt would meanā¦leaving this place but I swear Iāll provide you a home ten hundred times better than this!ā
Fae paused and twirled around arms wide again before asking.
āYes much better than this ten million hundred times better than this!ā
(She has no idea what he ment by that at all but he said it with enough enthusiasm for her to understand it ment very very very better)
āOkay! Yes! I come with horse man Rae!ā
She pointed at him hopping a little again her tail flicking side to side(yes she has a tail and I WOULD have said earlier but I was Interrupted in ch1 hmf)
Rae looked shockedā¦.then ecstatic then professional again. He took her basket tied it to his horse and tried to make space for her to ride. (She is not in a million years getting on that horse I can assure you that is a fact)}
