It's not really surprising, but disappointing that they're introducing this when they've been marking any and all content they can get away with as mature if it features trans women.
It's ridiculous to call yourself "The queerest place on the internet" when you're actively trying to erase trans women from your platform.
kids deserve so much more respect and it turns out that saying that is a great way to locate the horrible people in any community <3
you'll say something as simple as "no child deserves to be hit" and people will crawl out of the woodwork to explain why they should be allowed to beat a 6 year old for spilling some water
you'll say "i think it's weird that adults literally have control over when children are allowed to use the bathroom" and up pops a teacher to say that when they're not shouting at the kids they teach, they're trying to stop them from hiding in the bathrooms
you'll say "i think children shouldn't be forced to eat food they hate" and here comes someone who feeds their kids plain rice and boiled chicken (while eating a nicely seasoned stirfry) claiming that it's okay actually and kids shouldn't be allowed to taste things
you'll say "i think kids should have bodily autonomy" and in comes someone who pierced their babies ears before it was even 24 hours old, frothing at the mouth because their kid wanted a haircut and thats somehow an insult
children are an oppressed class and everyone should be looking back at their own childhoods and making sure they don't ever make a child feel the same way they felt.

Sometimes being like, even mildly aware of transfem issues will have you feeling like you're losing your mind. The news mentions that trans women specifically have been banned from something in a matter of fact way with no mention of the repercussions. On the internet people are loudly complaining about how this is terrible because it will harm cis women. Someone you know uses a term for themselves that is frequently used to aggressively argue against trans womens womanhood, and when a transfem friend rightfully raises her hackles, she is accused of denying people their identity, talking over and suppressing them, her own identity not even figuring into the matter. The medical guidelines are vague to nonexistent, left largely to the whims of any individual doctor, and besides within transfem circles this is barely discussed at all. Like it really feels like a great chunk of society, including some people who regularly interact with trans women, does not really comprehend that trans women have their own internal lives and are a real demographic actually affected by the world all on their own.
If you mention that being told you might be a girl would have saved you years of anguish and self repression, someone else will state that if they'd been told that it would have made them really uncomfortable. And everyone will agree that it's just not worth that risk. And you sit there going, what? How does that math check out, are you insane? But the answer is that even when you're sitting right in front of them, a lot of people just won't properly comprehend that you have your own internal life.

I loooooove getting rejected. People should reject more. It's the "maybes" and ghosting that's just like too much. A firm but polite "no" is infinitely more respectful of everyone's time and feelings. Can we just do that?

If they call a woman a bitch, people comprehend that as misogyny. But they call trans fems things that are harder to respond to. Rapist, pedophile, male conditioning, etc. They call us things so bad that even denying them is destructive. Who wants to stand up in public and say they aren’t those things? Isn't it fucking insane that so many people think that IQs are real. Like people genuinely believe you are born with one set level of intelligence that can be measured on a scale from 1 to ~200.
