“I saw that. You just checked me out.”

His faceplate began to steam up as he physically recoiled into himself. In all honesty, he'd thought he was being sly about it. She had turned a bit to the side as she had retrieved something from the crates behind her. Maybe he'd taken the opportunity to get a better look at her legs. Was it really that big of a deal? "I-what? No! No I wasn't looking at you-I mean I was looking at you but I wasn't looking at-" He was floundering, hands making gestures towards her then back at himself. The look she was giving him made it clear she wasn't buying what he was trying to sell. Huffing, the Hunter opted for crossing his arms."Ok fine. Maybe I was but!" Cayde then switched gears for the third time in the last thirty seconds, "Can you really blame me?" Giving her eyebrows, he shameless took another look up and down her body. "Don't tell me you don't like it."

Sol flings herself at the Hunter Vanguard for what would be a bone crushing hug. If someone mentions hugs three times in dim lighting, she will appear and give one! Gotta watch out!

Cayde couldn't help but letting out a surprised noise at the sudden encounter. Blinking a few times as if recovering from thoughts of a potential violent attack, he looked down at the smaller guardian. Smile forming fast on his faceplate, he gave a short of a laugh."Well it's good t'see you too guardian! Missed me that much, huh?" the Exo joked.

About Future Verses...

{{So I've been thinking of ways to accommodate for followers who aren't technically in the Destiny world. I realized I can make different verses accessible by utilizing that Vex time loop.

It's already canon that those caught within the Vex tech can spend years within the time and place they are teleported to. What if while in this loop he got transported to another time and place?

Also, I do want to add a verse where he's still human.

the aftermath of the red legion encounter was a fucking nightmare. it was going to take a lot to bounce back from this. everyone within the city knew that. that knowledge was the reason people had banded together. even knowing that it would take months to return back to “normal”, the progress they’d made in a few weeks was quite astounding. it almost made you forget that people were still suffering.

the last “mission” handed to her was to be a handler of sorts. cayde - her own vanguard - had lost his arm in the final fight. a shitty sacrifice to get the guardian to the inside of the almighty. 

of course, cayde had made his opinion known. he didn’t want a handler, didn’t need one, thought it was a waste of resources. and she couldn’t blame him. in his shoes, she would have felt the same. but even if a replacement arm was being made for him, life sometimes needed more than one. it would take time for him to grow used to the change. so…help was needed.

they needed no introduction to each other. he was her vanguard. she was a way-too-eager guardian for quite a few decades starting off. the familiar base was already there. (perhaps that was why she was chosen for this role out of everyone available.)  despite this, she felt…anxious.

she had been given access to an apartment next door to his. close enough to offer help when necessary, far enough to let him have his space. treatment few in the entire city would understand. there was no unpacking to do as only the basics had been brought. she simply left her bag in the main room then turned to enter the hallway once more, landing right in cayde’s path.

         “morning…sir.”

the formality was unnecessary. she just couldn’t help herself. in this situation, the hunter felt as if she were completely vulnerable. the fact she still stood tall was impressive to her. yet she knew the feeling of vulnerability would never leave as long as they were in this scenario together.

To say the Vanguard was...less than pleased with the set up was the understatement of the century. When Zavala and Ikora had sat him down, informing him they had made arrangements for an escort of sorts, he was furious. It had let to a frankly shameful display in which he had informed his friends he didn't "need a damn babysitter". The argument, if one could call him screaming his head off while they sat and listened an argument, had only ended when Ikora challenged him to open a twist off bottle of soda. In his anger, he'd smashed the neck off on the table, sending fluid everywhere. To his point, he'd completed the task. To her ruined papers and reports, he'd proven hers.

So, much to his constant protest, he had been assigned a familiar guardian as, well, his guardian. The morning of the day she moved in next door, he had actually contemplated escaping to the world outside the walls. Of course, his little fantasy was dashed quickly when the pain in his leg shot up to meet his brain. He wasn't going anywhere. He needed to suck it up and not be so horrible. While he knew this, it was much easier said than done.

Cayde had heard the door next to his own open and close. Rolling his eyes, he figured he'd hid out long enough; it was time to face the music. Limping his way to the door, the Exo had planned on greeting his new neighbor. However, he'd barely hooked a left out into the hall when he'd crashed right into her. Pain sprung from his busted arm, only aggravating him further.

"I'm not your father, kid, y'don't need to call me sir." It came out a little more harsh than he'd originally intended, but he decided to push past it. Looking down at her, he recognized her from before the final battle. "You're...Ila, right?"
