Last night's late inspiration. Started writing an article and hopefully I'll make the deadline to submit a first draft for a workshop
trying out a new thing called "maybe don't always sit like a shrimp who is trying to figure out modern technology -> 💻🦐" and the most integral part of my desk set up is now warrior cats. always got my back (figuratively 10+ years ago, but very literally now)
17.04.2026—and we arrive to friday, the end of another busy week. we got a new kitten last weekend, named winnie, and she is so freaking cute, and creating all kinds of cuddles and chaos. drafted a really challenging section just now, and i think im making good progress with it. onwards and upwards

26.02.26 ✨ i'm convinced my master's thesis advisor is an actual angel. how did i get so lucky.

things ppl often get wrong in academia AUs (specifically ones in modern university settings with focus on graduate students & professors):
no one is spending enough time complaining about writing
hierarchy is wrong. your grad student TA is not a professor or faculty and might not even be considered an employee. that 32 year old man is not a full professor no matter how talented he is or how old you think 30+ is, and he should be talking more about "the tenure clock"
grad students only ever taking or TAing classes & never doing research or working on their thesis/dissertation. there are masters programs with no thesis component so i'm sure there are ones that have no research requirement, but you can't get a PhD only taking classes
everyone has too much money. but also if it's set in the US there's an obsession with accumulating student debt for positions that generally you would not have to take out loans for
relationship with academic advisor never sufficiently unhinged
not enough discussion of stats where it's obvious everyone only barely understands what's happening
"what is a sufficiently unhinged student-advisor relationship?"

"I got so angry that ISIS was disrupting the research." -> Said on record to a journalist in the actual middle of an interview.
Yeah I think that's a sufficiently unhinged academic.
Sending love to anyone who is just… tired.
Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, socially, financially.
Life is asking a lot right now.
Pause when you can. Breathe when you remember.
Give yourself space. Give yourself grace.

I'm telling myself through gritted teeth that it'll all get better. I just have to finish that first draft.
molecular biology exam survived = ninja nerd saved my gluteus maximus from total fail🧬✨ alsoo, 5th semester ended, so only 1 year left from my molecular bionics degree. i'm truly proud of myself!

August 15th, 2025:
Hello, everyone! Long time no see, right? The real reason I was studying has actually changed since the last time I was here, so now I’m in a different phase with new goals. Here’s a little glimpse of my refreshed study and work space, and I plan to make it even cozier. I hope you’re all doing well and that your studies are progressing. ☕️

I have been learning about org chem, biology, enzymes, and action mechanisms through the kidneys - and basic kidney function and anatomy. It’s fun when it all starts to come together and make sense!
