Luka. they/he. LVL 22. aro/bi. Probably some kind of hellfox. I spend most of my time daydreaming & chronically thinking about my ocs, which is what most of the content on this blog is related to.
Uuhh idk I really like worldbuilding, be prepared to get psychic damage from trying to learn about my universes lol I apologize in advance.
I am on most places as some variation of acircusfullofdemons and/or detectivehyde, though tumblr is my "main" social media platform aka I'm on here the most & check/update it most often. If you're wondering if an account is me, feel free to send an ask.

I think my main problem with having fandom paracosms (as in, this is a 100% personal problem/applies to me/my feelings about my own fandom paracosms) is that theyβre never truly βmineβ.Β
Like, yes, I make up a plot - but that plot is based on a storyline from the original source material. I can change the paras - but how much can I change before theyβre justβ¦original paras? Wouldnβt that be better for me, then, so I can feel less self-conscious/insecure (for lack of a better word) when it comes to daydreaming about them?Β
Even if I never say the source material, even if I make the paras unrecognizable, I will always know what theyβre based on & I canβt change that fact. Maybe this ties into my feelings on fandom as a whole (whichβ¦is a whole mixed bag of worms). Itβs genuinely hard for me to like/be immersed in my fandom paracosms sometimes because of how much shit I give myself for having them in the first place. Thatβs why theyβre either so short-lived, or end up becoming original paracosms (thatβ¦get very little attentionβ¦).
This isnβt to say I always hate my fandom paracosms, just that I canβt help but be a littleβ¦..disappointed in the fact that my brain will latch onto these & not my original paracosms as much.
Going back to this, a small addendum if you will, I'm finding I have an infinitely easier time with paracosms who's Source Material is in the Public Domain/no longer has copyright.
I want to be clear: I've had multiple Fandom Paracosms/Fictparas. I used to have a Marvel paracosm (now Assembled Monsters) I played around with on & off, and the Percy Jackson/Riordanverse Canon/Worldbuilding was booted into early versions of Phantasmagoria.
I simply grew out of the Riordanverse stuff (especially when I started thinking more about Arcadia's own pantheon/religion) but with Marvel? There was a reason it was an on/off thing that got rebooted every time I thought about it.
This was before I knew the terms Maladaptive/Immersive Daydreaming, so the only word I had to describe AM was "fanfic". And I, at the time, at least, didn't really fully understand how people could just....not have ocs they cared about. I respected those in fandom that only created content of the Canon characters, but god did they confuse the hell out of me. I wasn't (& like to think I'm still not) that type of person. I created fan ocs/fictparas, of course, but this was when harshly criticizing fan ocs & calling them "Mary Sues" for any amount of creativity was the norm. Even though I never shared those ocs on the internet (at least, not much), I still read those posts & watched those videos of "how to create a 'realistic' oc", "how to avoid making your oc a 'Mary Sue'", etc.
(You could make the argument that those videos did help, in a way, but still. I was, like, 12 and maybe felt a little Too Much Pressure).
You know I. I think I got a little off topic there. But seeing all that just lead me to avoid doing literally anything for Fandom when it came to creating content. I only shared headcanons & fic ideas with my friends. I never had to worry about "Is this right? Is this allowed, is someone gonna yell at me for this?" with my ocs/paras because, well, I made them. Nobody could tell me I was writing them ooc because I made their personality. Nobody could say they were "overpowered" because I made my own magic system. Etc, etc. (I mean, people could, but I felt more comfortable telling them to fuck off if they said that about my ocs compared to anything relating to fanwork).
Which brings me back to works in the Public Domain (finally, I know). The thing with those is that, there's already a million different versions of it. Take Alice in Wonderland, for example. There's the Disney Version, Tim Burton, Ever After High, the list goes on & on. Because there's so many versions with varying degrees of quality, I feel more...comfortable, I guess, in saying "Hey, this is my aiw paracosm, these are my paras" etc etc due to that. It's more...common? socially acceptable? I'm not sure. But it does make me feel more....free, I suppose, to do what I want.
Truthfully, I don't know if I will ever be okay with having having fandom paracosms & fictparas. I might have an easier time with some fandoms being paracosms (I swear I did not have that big of an issue with daydreaming about Marvel/AM compared to DC/MaaC), but I'll always have some problem with it. I kind of wish I didn't, just to make things easier on myself, and maybe thats something I need to learn. That its ok to have these type of para/cosms. Its fine.

are people under the impression that aromantic people never want to have close personal relationships with the people in their lives. "oh i wish i was aro it would save me all this drama!" actually human relationships are always deep and complicated and messy and have the potential to hurt and help and change your life and being romantic is just one possible aspect of that. aromantic people want to be close to the people around them just like anyone else. and i know the real issue is that people think romantic relationships are the only way to be truly close to someone else but it's weird and off-putting to constantly hear the implication that aros are somehow fundamentally incapable of forming relationships that would impact their lives negatively cause they don't wanna go on dates with people. not even mentioning the aros who do
funny how many times you can say aromantic in a post specifically about aromanticism that is tagged with aromantic tags and STILL have people going βhaha i love my ace frensβ like okay awesome but who even mentioned asexuality
Me (A time traveler visiting 20-year old Mozart): OK, so, this is called an electric guitar, basically instead of the body functioning as a resonance chamber, it produces music by harnessing the power of lightning. Do you have any other questions?
Mozart (Currently shredding Violin Concerto No. 1 on the guitar, having figured it out within 30 seconds): What other music can be made from harnessed lightning?
Me (Loading up some heavy dubstep): Oh, we're just getting started.
Since Toby has time powers she struggles a lot with indecision + making the "right" choice, borderline abusing her powers to see every option there can possibly be....I think Elliott should struggle with being stagnant. Staying in one place. There's a whole universe to explore and she can go anywhere she wants at the snap of her fingers. I think she'd have a very strong sense of wanderlust and will get antsy if False Moon hasn't explored anyplace 'new' recently.
both of them have problems with staying in one place, of being stagnant. traveling through time and jumping through space sound cool in theory, but I think someone's mind would kind of break a little if they could just. undo something they said or leave anytime they wanted at will.
