simple exercises for baby witches ♡🌱
- meditate. even five minutes every day does wonders for developing self-understanding and your connection to the earth and spiritual realm.
- hone your intent- your most powerful tool. write your desires on a piece of paper and seal it with wax, or burn it (safely) in a candle. since intent is usually represented by fire, stare into flame and imagine it manifesting as your intentions or a kind of familiar that will stay will you and help you in your journey.
- consecrate your food. before eating, consider its origins and thank all that is responsible for bringing it to you.
- create an altar. this can be as complex or as simple as you like- crystals and candles help, but all you truly need is your intent and any objects that prompt you to consider and value whatever you dedicate your altar to (a deity, nature, a festival, yourself…)
- develop a habit of starting or ending your day with some yoga. as you do so, make sure to thank the sun for rising and for setting, the moon for being so serene and the stars for all the stories they hold.
- connect with the elements. whether you are walking, sitting, falling asleep- balance yourself by acknowledging the elements. for example, notice your breath (air), notice the weight of your body or your contact with the ground (earth), notice your thoughts and emotions, or simply the saliva in your mouth (water) and notice your heartbeat (fire).
- bath magic! this is a favourite of mine simply because it is so versatile- use salts, bath bombs, candles, crystals, lavender or petals in order to clear negativity, cleanse for a spell, honour a deity, help heal yourself, strengthen self love and care, renew intentions and goals…
- practice a grounding exercise- do some research into what kind of grounding you like the most. I usually imagine roots drawing up energy from the earth’s core.
- go outside for the sake of going outside. talk to the flowers and trees and wind. acknowledge the extraordinary complexities of nature- how science and magic flows and interacts to form our beautiful planet.
- be thankful. you are alive! isn’t that incredible? whatever happened, whatever is going to happen, you are fortunate enough to be here, living and breathing and experiencing. keep doing so.
witchcraft | FOREST WITCHES
forest witches use the power of the woods and the nature that it houses in their magic. they often work with plants, dirt, animals and foraged items.

Hey, do you know that feeling of hitching up a long skirt so you don’t fall on your face when walking upstairs, and then you immediately become a wretched yet resolute Jane Austen character? It’s a universal thing, right?
It’s like resting a laundry basket against your hip and suddenly you’re a long-suffering peasant woman, wondering if you’ll survive the winter.

It looks like I didn’t move at all but I promise I still went to class😅
•reviewed notes for my Cellular Biology midterm tomorrow (yay for weekend midterms😒) •got home from lectures and started reviewing for a psychology midterm
Study tip**** use lots of different study methods to help consolidate your knowledge! I like to take notes from the textbook, compare it to my lecture notes, and make summary tables or mindmaps integrating the two! 👍🏼
You want motivation? My parrot is up at 6.30 every morning, cursing and denying god. What are YOU doing in those precious morning hours? Sleeping? Pathetic.

🌱The Basics of Witchcraft🌱
This is a small excerpt from my coven’s lessons. I’ll continue to post these so witchlings, or witches, can have this information! I hope it helps.
Witchcraft is, in my opinion, the practice of manipulating energy forces into your intent. This can also be simplified as the practice of magick. You can aid it by tools and materials, but no matter what, you are manipulating energy. That is why energy work can be very important.
The Craft started wayy back, from the start of human civilization. Before we started to get scientifically advanced and didn’t know that much, we would believe in the supernatural, that a god or spirit did this and that. Witches were the mediators between humans and the higher powers. Religion and Witchcraft may have gone hand to hand back then, but it isn’t always the case. You can practice witchcraft without believing in a higher power or deity. Here are just some things to know before stepping into the Craft:
Witchcraft ≠ Religion
It isn’t a game(To specify, don’t half-ass a spell. It either might not work, or worse, create chaos. We can learn about this next lesson when we learn about Energy work).
Witchcraft can be used for anything and everything you want it to be, It’s really flexible.
There are morals and ethics to learn about in the craft you should pay attention to
It is an enhancement, not a replacement to your life.
To elaborate on the last point, here is a document by Brian Windvexer that should be looked at:
Don’t Let Witchcraft Erase Who You Are:
Don’t become dependent on Tarot readings to make decisions
Don’t feel like the day is ruined if you left the house without drawing your card for the day
Don’t feel helpless if you can’t figure out a spell to help
Don’t rely on witchcraft alone to improve your relationships
Don’t forget how to speak out because you can hex at home
Don’t forget how to be confident without a candle spell
Don’t forget to discover for yourself because there are so many free resources online
Don’t get panicky if you can’t explain it with your new beliefs
Don’t lose your friends because they don’t understand the new you
Don’t avoid going out with friends so you can buy more herbs and candles instead
Don’t give up your other hobbies to practice endless energy work or Divination
Don’t neglect your job or studies to read witchcraft books instead
Don’t ask yourself ‘what would a witch do’. Ask yourself, ‘What would I do.’
Witchcraft is an enhancement to life, not a replacement for life.
There are different types of witchcraft and I’d say they are all valid. But with every practice, there are certain basics to them.
They are:
Protection
Grounding
Centering
Meditation
Visualization
Protection - To guard and prevent harmful energies to an area/being, especially in Magick practice.
There are 3 types:
Wards: protection of an area (ie. House or room)
Witch memes
Jars. More jars. Not enough jars.
Salty af tarot decks
The Moon, our collective wife
Never Enough Stones
“hex the fuckboy”
“fuck it I’m leaving the fae can have me”
“all ghosts better SHUT THE HECK UP AT 3 AM IN THIS HERE GODDAMN HOUSE”
Astrology, and just… so much drama around that whole thing
Oddly casual conversations with gods
I’ve been pondering this recently… I’m gathering all of my notes, rituals, and practices on being an “eclectic herbal green witch” and wondering if any baby or newby witches leaning towards elemental magick would love an affordable online course. Reblog or like this post if this is something you would take interest in.

facts
Ever wanted to start reading French authors and French literature, but never knew where to start? Here is a list of major works that are seen as staples of their movement or era for you to start with. 😋 (This is part 1 of 2, it covers literature before the French Revolution.)
Please note that this selection is arbitrary and not exhaustive, and many more authors and works could be included here, but it was necessary to make choices for the sake of providing a relatively brief but comprehensive list. Titles are provided in their original French version to avoid any confusion.
