Why are some Avatar viewers obsessed with the need to identify with soldiers working for a corporation that exploits natural resources?!
There's literally the scientific branch and the other Avatars right there! If you're so desperate to identify with people.
Then no, the kind of humans the RDA represents don't deserve a second chance. And I think it's very naive to think they actually care about humanity (probably just 1% of humans). They discover a way to breathe on Pandora, and the first thing they think is that it's going to win them a war (consider living together? What's that all about?).
Also, the humans in this saga are literally the Martians of The War of the Worlds (H. G. Wells). They destroyed their own planet and believe they have the right to appropriate another. The situation is simply reversed in Avatar.
