With the help of a team from Germany, Kyiv First Church of the Nazarene recently hosted free seminars for the community based on the theme "Healthy families make healthy communities."
Crisis Care Kits
Crisis Care Kits is a ministries first started by the Fawn Grove Compassion Center in response to the floods that hit Mozambique 1992. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries took on FGCC to help cover the expenses for the services FGCC provided, not just Crisis Care Kits. The two to this continue to partner in helping give aid to areas in crisis. (Front of the warehouse)
Nazarene churches help put together these kits by gathering items on the list and putting them in a two gallon ziplock bag. Kits are put into banana boxes, six to a box, and sent to Fawn Grove where they are inspected and stored until they are needed for a crisis.
(Inside the warehouse)
In the CCKs are these items:
1 Shampoo (12 to 18 oz)
2 Bars of soap (Bath size or larger)
1 Toothpaste (4.0 to 6.4 oz)
3 Toothbrush (adult- do no remove packaging)
1 Box of Bandaids (30 or more)
1 Fingernail clipper (adult)
1 Sturdy hair comb
2 Hand towels
4 Pocket sized tissues
1 Beanie baby sized stuffed toy
The list has to be held to strictly, as the boxes might have to go through customs. Entire shipments can be thrown out if even one item in one bag is wrong.
While CCKs are a Nazarene ministry, anyone of any church is welcome to participate, whether in donations of money, clothes, or CCKs.
Questions? The ask box is open, or there is more information on the FGCC site.

Thin steaks are wrapped around bacon and onions, pan-fried, and then simmered in beef broth, which is, in turn, made into a sour-cream gravy in this traditional German recipe. Guten Appetit!

Make your own marzipan instead of buying it. Marzipan is used to frost Christmas cakes and for candies, and all sorts of other goodies.
Zwiebelkuchen ingredients, recipe directions, nutritional information and rating
Just what the name implies - these are German-style potato dumplings, as found everywhere in the South of Germany, Austria and Bohemia. These are traditionally served with any roast with gravy, but most well-known as an accompaniment for a hearty Sauerbraten and red cabbage. Like polenta, second-day leftovers are a treat when sliced into slabs and fried in butter.
