I wrote this ages ago for the Stan Twins Go To All 50 States thing that what never happened. (The premise was, after investigating random nonsense in the Artic, the Stans travel all over the US and have adventures and Stan has a plan to fuck Ford in every state. Was supposed to be a massive collab but, like most massive colabs, didn’t get off the ground.)

So here you go. The adventures of Stan and Ford in Nevada, set after the series ended.

With the window wound down and the cigar hanging out the vehicle as a concession to the, ‘No Smoking in the Van’ rule, Stan took a draw, breathed deep, then blew the smoke in the vague direction of outside.

“The obvious money is on Area 51, but maybe that’s a little too obvious.”

The radio had decided it was broken again. I-spy had withered around about the state line (R is for Road… C is for Car… N is for Nerd brother…) and Stan was keeping himself amused with smoking and idle speculation.

Pairing: Preston/Stan, mentions of Stan/Ford, Ford/Preston, and Stan/Ford/Preston

Summary: Set sometime after ‘Champagne and Caviar’. Stan and Preston have a discussion about love and their relationship.

“So, I’ve never heard you two say it to one another,” Ford remarks conversationally one morning, apropos of absolutely nothing.

Stan’s face is practically buried in his cornflakes and Preston is reading the financial pages in the paper. Stan’s made a lot of cracks about that, about how Preston has to go out of his way to actually purchase a newspaper as opposed to reading his news online like everyone else.

“He’s just that goddamn pretentious,” was Stan’s most common grumble and Preston’s most common response was to lift one eyebrow loftily and ignore him, albeit with a scowl on his face. Preston has a similar look on his face minus scowl as he noisily flicks the papers down to look Ford fully in the face, “I beg pardon – what have we not said to one another?”

“You and Stanley, I’ve never heard you tell one another ‘I love you’,” Ford supplies simply and Stan chokes, milk and flakes falling from his mouth and into his bowl. Preston’s nose wrinkles in disgust and he picks the paper back up, “I’m sure you’re mistaken.”

I'm all aboard the 'taking advantage of Stanley's amnesia' thing, but how would that be? Like a scenario when they don't figure out about the scrapbook until later and the first day he's still blank and there's where Ford makes his move?

AW GEEZ OH MAN OKAY. OKAY OKAY OKAY.

I’ve always assumed that it’d be like this: the scrap book brings very vague memories back. Sorta like muscle memory? Pig belongs to the small girl, that hat on the small boy wasn’t always with him, he got it here. He has a hard time figuring out simple motions like changing. All he knows is when he looks in the mirror, he looks similar to Ford

OH MY GOD THOUGH. YES YES YES. [pounds table with fists] FORD DIDN’T MEAN TO. HE JUST ACCIDENTALLY STARTS LYING TO STAN BY OMISSION. HE DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE HE WAS STARTING.

HE’LL START TELLING STAN THE SAD THINGS TOMORROW. OR NEXT WEEK.

IN A LITTLE WHILE. ONCE HIS MIND GETS STRONGER. ONCE STAN’S BEEN HAPPIER FOR A WHILE. But Ford just watches him and sees how happy this version of Stan is, who doesn’t remember the bad and so he assumes it was all good. And he can’t bring himself to tell all.

‘I already ruined Stan’s life once,’ Ford tells himself. What right does he have to do it again? And maybe, you know, once Stan catches him off guard - asks about their parents, or about what their young adult years were like. And Stanford can’t tell his brother that they hated each other for years. Ford just fudges a little bit. Makes their history just a little bit happier than it was. Ever since coming back through the portal he’s had so many regrets. He’s wished for so long that he could change the past.

And now he can.

And- you know- it’s easy to just let Stan assume. It happens before Ford even realizes it. The way Ford looks at him. The way Ford touches his shoulder, or straightens his jacket, or talks to him quietly, privately, aside in groups - Stan sees all these things and he notices it and he puts it together. Assumes - touches Ford back. Chastely, at first: A hand on his waist. An arm around his shoulders. A kiss on the cheek.

His whole life Ford’s been waiting for his brother to feel the same way he does.

Due to our utmost love for this ship we have decided to host a summer long event called; 

Summer of Stancest!

Anyone can participate and your response to the structured prompts can be anything you desire. Be it gifs, edits, fan art, fan fiction, or anything else you can possibly think of! Go as wacky as wild as you’d like as long as it adheres to the prompts set out; how you interpret them, however, is entirely up to you guys!

Written prompts have no minimum or maximum word count and all prompt responses can be either NSFW or SFW in nature, however tag appropriately. Whatever you desire to do is appreciated and welcomed and any other types of prompt responses have zero requirements either!

SOS will last a total of 12 weeks, with 6 prompts in total, each prompt lasting 2 weeks. 

This is so those who wish to take their time on their pieces – or for those looking to do more than one response to each prompt – so that they have more than enough time to do so!

The ship event will run from July 1st to September 23rd, the prompts are thus;

Week 1-2, July 1st – July 14th: Mykonos*

Week 3-4, July 15th – July 28th: Mindscape

Week 5-6, July 29th – August 11th: AU/Canon Divergence

To participate all you have to do is post your prompt response with the tag #summerofstancest and have it be one of the first five tags used so that it can show up directly in the tag. 

Please avoid tagging your works with character names or the general gravity falls tag just as a safety precaution. Or, if you use character tags as a blog organization thing, structure the tags you aren’t using for the event so they aren’t within the first five tags so it won’t show up in a tumblr search (ex: stancest, summerofstancest, 3, 4, 5, stanley pines… etc).

*Asterisks:

1*: Mykonos is the location Soos envisioned Stan and Ford vacationing at during one of the shorts from Soos’ Fan Fiction, which is where the images of Ford in that ridiculous pair of red shorts originated from. The episode shorts you can find complied here.
