A truly beautiful piece called "Dustbin Angel" by award-winning artist, painter and illustrator, Graham Hodgson (@grahamhodgsonartist), of Sunderland. You can view many of Graham Hodgson's works at the "Pigment & toil" art gallery in the bridges shopping centre. This painting for me captures the loneliness that one feels when homeless. The way that many homeless people feel discarded and treated like vermin or anything less than human. Some of these people may have made incorrect choices in life, sure. But certainly not all. Even if the former were true, surely people don't deserve to live in such a way. Including soldiers that fight or join the army and then are thrown away without a decent support system or with the expectation to live a normal life. Here we see a homeless person sitting in a slightly-lit alleyway. His head is down and we can't see his face. How is he currently feeling? Who is he? What is his story? Is he asleep? Questions that allude many of us when we walk past yet another faceless person sitting, asking for aid, or sleeping in the street. Behind this person, a great pair of wings are cast upon the wall. What does this represent to you? We truly forget that anyone could be in this position. Not only have I now created a language that the Hiun of A World Reborn speak, but I have also now started on my creation of a "written" form of communication that involves the use of pictograms carved into trees of the rainforest that the main Hiun of the story live in.
