A forgotten/Abandoned Sunnah When Asked "How Are You?"
سال عمر الرجل كيف أنت؟
فقل: أحمد الله إليك
فقل عمر الرجل:
ذلك الذي أردة منك
Anas b. Malik رضي الله عنه reported that he heard 'Umar b. al-Khattab رضي الله عنه asked a man: "How are you?" He said: "Ahmad-Allaahu Ilayk (I praise Allah to you)." So 'Umar said to the man: "That is what I wanted (to hear) from you."

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Luḥaidān (rahimahullah) said:
A person should be keen to consistently maintain, in all of his affairs, that the matter in its entirety belongs to Allah, and he should recall the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him): “O young boy, safeguard Allah and He will safeguard you; safeguard Allah and you will find Him before you. Know Him in times of ease and He will know you in times of hardship. If you ask, then ask Allah, and if you seek help, then seek help from Allah.” And he also said: “And know that what has befallen you was never going to miss you, and that what missed you was never going to befall you.”
These matters apply to many people. However, what the Muslim servant must always be keen upon is that all of his deeds be purely for the Face of Allah, so that he may benefit from them in this world by Allah defending him. Allah says: “Indeed, Allah defends those who believe” (al-Ḥajj: 38). And the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “Know Him in times of ease and He will know you in times of hardship.”
So a person should strive to observe Allah, and to be keen on being free from shirk al-aṣghar. Although Allah may pardon shirk al-aṣghar if it was not the motive behind that act of worship, because if riyāʾ (showing off) is the motive that drives the servant to perform an act of worship, then that act of worship becomes a calamity upon him.

قال العلامة ابن عثيمين رحمه الله :
" إنّ هذه الألبسة القصيرة التي تلبسها بناتكم؛ فتقرونهن عليها، وربما ألبستموهن إيّاها أنتم ليست والله خيراً، بل هي شر لهن تذهب الحياء عنهن، وتجلب إليهن الفتنة، وتوجب هجر اللباس الشرعي الساتر، لباس الحشمة والحياء "
الضياء اللامع (157/2).
The scholar Ibn Uthaymeen, may God have mercy on him, said:
"Indeed, these short clothes that your daughters wear — and you approve of them wearing, and perhaps you even clothe them in such attire — are not, by God, good for them. Rather, they are harmful: they strip away their modesty, attract temptation toward them, and lead to abandoning the legally prescribed covering clothing, the clothing of decency and modesty."

Ibn al-Jawzī رحمه الله said:
"Do not let your past (carelessness)
make you lose hope of achieving good
for many people have come back to wakefulness
after a long sleep."

"" اللهمّ اشْفِ أَبَوَيَّ وَأَطِلْ أَعْمَارَهُمَا فِي طَاعَتِكَ، وَاجْعَلْهُمَا مِمَّنْ تَرْتَفِعُ دَرَجَاتُهُمْ فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
O Allah, heal my parents and prolong their lives in Your obedience, and make them among those whose ranks are elevated in the Gardens of Bliss. ""

everyone wants a good woman until that good woman requires you to be a good man.
It's often the little things in life that make the biggest difference. A kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a simple question can transform someone's day in ways we might not immediately realize.
Just a week ago, a new maid started working in our pg. I have this habit of asking people if they've eaten, a small way I show my concern. So one evening, I noticed she hadn't eaten, and it was getting late. Out of habit, I told her, "You should eat something. It's not good for you to stay hungry, especially since you work so hard." But then it suddenly struck me that she was much older than I am, so I quickly added, "I'm sorry, I was just checking on you." To my surprise, she replied, "It's okay. No one ever asks me. It feels good when I cook for 15 children and one of them asks me if I've eaten." Her words hit me hard. I had no idea that such a simple question could make her feel appreciated and seen.
Then, today, the roles reversed. As I went to get some food, she noticed something was off. She asked me, "Are you stressed about something? You haven't eaten." In that moment, I was overwhelmed. The small kindness I had extended to her had come full circle. She cared enough to check on me, returning the unintentional effort.
This experience made me realize how significant small acts of kindness can be. It's the little things that truly matter and often have the most profound impact on our lives and the lives of others.
• Train your mind to see the good in every situation.
You’ve got to envision something that’s more powerful than you, something that has to get you out of bed and make you work for it. And what’s better than the delights of Jannah that your Lord described for you and the horrors of Hellfire that He warned of you? Get up and prepare for it already
One must teach himself to live with struggle, not because one wishes to struggle but because struggle is inevitable. Either you encounter it with grace or it will force its way in. It’s also important because the times ahead are not easy; the life you envision or the ranks you wish to attain will not come to you as a piece of cake—it requires struggle. So embrace the struggle already and prepare yourself for the combat.
As ‘umar bin al-Khattāb said, “Roughen up, for bounties do not last forever.”
اخشوشنوا فإن النعم لا تدوم
“If a one allows his vision to be obscured by the clouds of his trials, he will never be able to weather the storm.
Sharpen your sight. A believer must see right through the storm and into the calm awaiting him on the other side — an abode where he shall never suffer heaviness of heart again, nor shall he grieve.
وَإِنَّ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ لَهِىَ ٱلْحَيَوَانُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew.”

Shaykh al-'Uthaymin رحمه الله said:
Reaching Ramadan is a great blessing upon the one who reaches it and fulfills its rights by returning to His Lord from disobeying Him to obeying Him, being heedless and neglectful of Him to remembering Him, and being distant from Him to turning to Him with repentance.
