He’s being such a theatre actor in this scene. It’s something I can’t quite put into words but this is how people Act on Stage. When I first watched it I was like “omfg Assad’s acting, I never notice that he’s acting,” and then I realized—of COURSE Armand is acting, this is a performance, a show for Louis and the people on the livestream and himself. A demonstration of his evil. That’s why it stops being acting when Louis finally says something truthful; that wasn’t in the script.

fanfiction is a rare gem and a solid, living proof that, in a world of tiktok, influencers and content posting, not everything is about money and going viral. art can still be art just for the sake of the artists’ pure love, joy and passion for the art they create. fanfic writers write 100k words and more about the characters they love for free. just because they love these characters and the art of writing so much. art is not dead and the world is still beautiful.

Browsing Eric Bogosian's old website is so fun he as so many random rants on there. Why didn't anyone tell me he had a website and was basically a blogger before it was cool. I even found his "the anvil" story that everyone reference and I feel like the whole thing is even more insane.

Ok so I have an entire currently 3.5 hour playlist of songs that make me think about IWTV/AMC Armand & I realized I could share some of it with you.

Preamble: I’m a show-only Armand fan who has filled in lots of gaps & DM spoilers through online media. These song choices are based entirely on my head canon perception of Armand, and they have a wide spread of inspirations, from complete nonsense to songs to cry to. My perception of Armand will be different than yours & I hope you can respect that; this is 100% for fun & not at all framed as “definitive” or “canon compliant.” Just goofin around.

When writing always remember… a character flaw is only a flaw until becomes useful.
Is your protagonist manipulative? Well that’s awful… until they manipulate the antagonist into making a decision that saves the lives of their friends.
Is your protagonist a skeptic? Well that’s not good… until someone tries to lie to them.
Is your protagonist overprotective? That sucks… until someone they love is in danger.
Is your protagonist remorseless? Well that makes them pretty unlikeable… until a hard decision has to be made.
This actually goes the other way, too.
They’re upright with a strong moral code? Great, until they either a) have to break it and deal with the loss of identity, or b) they don’t break it, and send a friend or lover off with the regime’s secret police for their parking ticket.
They’re generous to all their friends? But they never keep anything back for themselves, and they burn out.
Single-minded in the pursuit of justice? Their partner is really tired of being the only person there for their kid, and is sick of doing all the laundry.
Even the most positive of character traits can have negative effects sometimes, and exploring those, especially unintended consequences, can make for really interesting stories.
