We were feeling pretty chuffed about having the #6 trending post on this website until we saw number 7 was a Supernatural mpreg edit
Alrighty then
Yea that's fair
DAMMIT I didn’t read the text before I saw the first picture and was like OMGOMGOMG WHICH ONE IS DEAD!! 🤞🤞🤞
Tsk. Emotionally jerked around by an SPN mpreg edit. Which is a sentence I can only type on Tumblr.
At the viking market yesterday I was chatting with someone and mentioned my hobby study (1800s folklore) and they said something like "How is it useful?" And I was just. Kinda dumbfounded. We are surrounded by historical reenactors and craftsmen, you just played a ballad melody with your reenactor band (a melody that was most likely written down between 1500-1800, so,,, anachronistic, but I love ballads, so I won't complain), and you're asking me what the point is of understanding the umwelt of our ancestors???
I understand that folklore is, to many people, wishy-washy and woowoo, because it's anthropology more than history, and it's largely intangible culture, but holy hell, can we stop questioning the 'utility' of understanding how other people think and perceive the world?
Ooooh I just learned that Quenya has the phrase "carina nilmen" which is a reply to "thank you" meaning more or less "you're welcome/no problem" but it literally means "done for friendship" and ooooooh. Oh.
I love thins language. I love this Discord.
Elven words for storms
Elven words for rain, wind, and snow
These are elven words for storms including poetic and archaic words
More in the linguistic resources and word of the day (wotd) tags! Let me know if there are any topics you would like to see covered
Vangwë is the most common Quenya word for storm. It derives from the root way meaning blow (of wind) of (physically) disturb.
Raumo is an onomatopoetic word in Quenya meaning noise of a storm. Both Quenya and Sindarin have many onomatopoetic words including many related to storms
Gwae is the most common Sindarin word for storm, also derived from way.
Haloisi (Quenya) means the sea in storm ⛈️ and derives from the root hala meaning leap. This is perhaps my favourite word on this list!
Alagos is a Sindarin word for storm often understood to mean a wind storm. Anacalagon, meaning biting storm, comes from this. Alagos derives from alak meaning swift
Huiriaith is an archaic Sindarin word for gale, derived from suru meaning to blow
Hwarwa in Quenya means a violent wind. It derives from swā, an echoic or onomatopoetic representation of the sound of wind.
Lumbri is an older Sindarin word for foul weather. Lumbrin means an overcast sky. Both derive from luvu meaning dark weather.
Laumë is an older Quenya word for stormy skies derived from lumo meaning dark
Gandalf in Fangorn Forest
This one worked out so well i cant believe it !!!! So happy
