Lapo
Lapo is almost too charming for words. The Lisbon-based illustrator was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied at London’s Central Saint Martins before moving to Portugal, where her illustrative projects are growing rapidly. Such collections range from the ongoing Viana, in which she draws portraits of 14 residents from Viana do Castelo in Lisbon, to Pet Love, which ensures correct caring for loved animals.

Joel Sternfeld
This is just a small collection of Sternfeld's fantastic style of photography. He captures the essence of America in the '70s and we absolutely love his documentary photography.
Sternfeld’s 1970’s America is a depicted as a bittersweet era filled with exuberance but constrained by a sense of a society not living up to its ideals. This was also a time of excitement in photography as emergent color pictures struggled to compete with the more established world of black and white images.

This fantastic new advertising campaign for Black Sabbath's return cuts away at old fly posters to reveal Black Sabbath. A great way to infer that they were there before and now they're coming back!
The print series, created by McCann Copenhagen, simulated the effect by glueing together layers of old posters and then carving out the holes by hand. Impressive, right? We're disappointed that they haven't been rolled out further than Copenhagen, but they'll be sure to gain enough attention online.

A new series by Penguin, Philosophy in Transit, features close-cropped shots of commuters by photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. The covers are beautifully simple with the reminiscent style of a polaroid photograph. The text is set in Avenir to help keep the cover design simple.
"Tillman's photographs are really stylish, and feature quite close-up unusual crops. You can almost read whatever you want into them, and each reader will interpret the photographs differently ... they're the main focus, and the rest of the design is kept deliberately clean and minimal,"

Apple bring back long copy in their newest adverts, but are they any good? Many would argue that the days of long copy are over and belong in the era of VW's famous 'Lemon' ad.
We're not sure what to make of these.. What do you think?

Lovely typography for photography branding. Nice to see that the trend of white type over photographs hasn't faded.

Simple and effective idea from DDB... Clever ad placement would really enhance the simplicity.
Rolling Pen by Ale Paul / Underlight Visual Poetry by Tomas Garcia
Tomas’ approach on the reveal of Rolling Pen is inspired on the enlightenment given by neon lights in the dark, through the power of words.
The neon lights were originally created to conceptually narrate over darkness. That’s why the collection has been coined "Underlight"; a way to represent light in neon form as the underliner of something important through light.

Thirty-Fifth President: John F. Kennedy (1961-1963)
This photo depicts NASA Deputy Administrator Robert Seamans, Dr. Wernher von Braun and President Kennedy at Cape Canaveral. Dr. Wernher von Braun explains the Saturn Launch System to President John F. Kennedy.
In a time of uncertainty at home and abroad, an American president proposes bold new steps in the exploration of space. He calls for “longer strides” which “may hold the key to our future here on Earth.” He touts the potential of “even more exciting and ambitious exploration of space, perhaps beyond the moon, perhaps to the very end of the solar system itself.” The year is 1961. The president is John F. Kennedy. But the words ring true today, as NASA once again aims for new frontiers with the Vision for Space Exploration. Kennedy’s “Special Message to Congress on Urgent National Needs” came on May 25, just three weeks after Mercury astronaut Alan B. Shepard became the first American in space. Delivered at the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union, the speech is best known for Kennedy’s audacious challenge to NASA and America: “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth.”

How to ‘Print’ Type with a Needle and Thread
This inventive CMYK alphabet has been hand embroidered by Evelin Kasikov, a London based designer with a very analytical approach to craft.
Evelin found that by stitching two overlapping CMYK thread colours at 90 and 45 degrees, an ‘analogue halftone’ is created.
Originally the alphabet was created as a typographic experiment but once the technique was refined it enabled the creation of some elaborate and fantastic typographic posters like the one at the bottom.

A fantastic innovative typographic piece using a saw by Zachary Smith.
I painted this for an online shop I have in the works. But, for now, it will hang in my workspace as a reminder. A reminder, that I'm not the only one out there trying to make it. I gotta keep up the hard work (even though i have to give up time with family/friends and my girlfriend) if I wanna set myself apart from everyone else. Stay focused. Stay determined.
