I saw your post responding to an anon abt a chair that was supportive but could not self propel in, and how that was a major issue. Would something like a firefly, smartdrive, smoov, or other brand of electric/add on motor be an option here?
Absolutely! There are also lightweight foldable power chair brands that may be a better option if you canât propel at all. I know Paisec is popular right now, and Iâve had good experiences with the Forcemech ones as well :)
Is that a valid argument in your pants or is it just a phallacy?
Wow Iâve been dead on here but enjoy some shitposting of my convo with a diabetic friend (weâre suffering together)

My child in an interview with Al Jazeera
My children are in displacement camps, and my child, Walaa, suffers from diabetes. She does not have insulin, and it is not available in the Gaza Strip, and they do not have useful food, so help us get them out of the hell of war.

Help A Teenage Girl Evacuate Gaza!
Hi everyone, My name is Amal Al-Houbi from Gaza, I'm fundraising for ⌠Amal Mohammed needs your support for Help Amal and her family survive
Hi everyone, I'm reposting this one from Instagram, illustration is by myself and depicts Amal. She reached out to me to share her story and her evacuation fund.
Amal's situation is exceedingly dire. She has faced extreme difficulty accessing food and medicine she desperately needs. Airstrikes and famine conditions have forced Amal to navigate an increasingly dangerous Gaza, in which she is already internally displaced. Amal is only 18 years old, and has been forced to give up her high school and college dreams in order to survive this genocide. Please join me in making sure this teenage girl has something to eat and a future to look forward to.
Remember, the minimum donation is only $5! Even a small donation will help tremendously, so don't be afraid to give what you can! Don't forget to share if you can't donate!
(Disclaimer: I am not Palestinian, I was just asked to share this fundraiser.)

The ban allegedly affected LGBTQ users disproportionately.
Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article ⌠To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblrâs LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblrâs ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHRâs investigation revealed Tumblerâs moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, theyâve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three âoffendersâ were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 â 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They've been visible on my page - corrupting viewers - for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven't learned much. Apparently, Tumblr â who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. Iâd recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.
In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Donât buy into Tumblrâs hypocritical âpink washing.âÂ
I saw your dysautonomia post. I've been diagnosed for over a year and known for longer but my doctor keeps refusing to prescribe me a wheelchair despite the fact I can't walk further than down the hall without one. They keep trying to send me to physical therapy (only for one body part at a time due to insurance despite also having chronic pain evenly in my whole body and experiencing post-exertional malaise even from light physical therapy). Other than just finding a new doc, which I've been working on, do you have any advice for how to get a doc to actually prescribe the mobility aids you need?
(I am lucky enough to have a decently fitted one that I cannot self propel but can be pushed in, but my partner also has POTS so that's rarely an option and only for short trips (which only because in her own words hers is "better managed" than mine currently). But I really do need probably a motorized one at this point and I know other disabled people often know how exactly to get through to a doc so even if I can't convince my current doc I can hopefully use any tips when I find a new one.)
I wish I had better advice, but I would definitely look for educated physicians who are familiar with dysautonomia and fiddle around with medications (Corlanor/Ivabravine and infusions are the only things that has even helped remotely with mine). I had the same issue with a lot of doctors and was gaslit about not having EDS until my neurologist, shortly after diagnosing me with 3 types of dysautonomia, also diagnosed me with EDS (it was glaringly obvious apparently. Iâm extremely hypermobile, can dislocate things on command and experience daily dislocations/subluxations, history of heart issues that he now escalated to four regurgitating valves, stretchy, velvety skin, strophic scarring, gastroparesis, at the time pending MCAS diagnosis, etc). If you can, there are organizations that will loan out wheelchairs for relatively cheap or free for people who need them, the difficulty is just finding one thatâs near you or will ship to you! Also, I would definitely recommend a lightweight, motorized wheelchair or a regular wheelchair with motorized attachments like a smart drive or motorized wheels. The weight is going to be a big factor, especially if your partner is also disabled/chronically ill and you guys need to be able to transfer it into the car. Iâm kinda in the same boat right now where even in a normal lightweight wheelchair (without motorization), my heart rate will get up to 200 and I canât push myself for more than a minute really. Iâve been stuck using my forearm crutches to get around everywhere, but since that doesnât do anything for my heart rate or blood pressure, Iâm limited to doing anything (albeit not very much) to extremely good days. Iâll link some cheaper models below, and please feel free to dm me for more advice, Iâm always happy to help other people out đŠľ
