favourite rpg trope is the merchants in incredibly hostile environments. we are at the evil curse mountain and youre just selling me items normal style
Essential worker during covid
I think my favorite version of this is when the merchant is somewhere that by all logic would not have anyone going there unless they're actively selling supplies to your enemies. On an island with a single settlement under siege by mind controlled fishmen and humans alike, there's a traveling merchant making camp at the base of the mountain the psychic monster is based out of. Literally the only reason he would be there at all is if he was selling to the mind flayer. And that's just one example, what about the merchant you find in the ancient temple that has been magically sealed from all access until your party managed to open it for the first time in millenia? Or the merchant that's selling healing potions and disposable tents at the north pole? What about the merchant that's living in the stone age distant past that doesn't even have agriculture or a concept of currency?
To put it bluntly, the only way to end homelessness is to house people or kill them.
That's it. Those are your options. Homelessness doesn't go away based on "crime crackdowns." You will imprison the unhoused, and when they are free, they will be unhoused again. Or they will die in prison.
When you burn encampments or force people out without their stuff, they remain unhoused or freeze to death.
After working with the unhoused, it's become abundantly clear that those who don't want to support them instead want them dead.
There is blood on the hands of every government and organization that controls the homeless population with force instead of compassion.

The polar opposite of corporate accounts trying to come across as hip and super friendly are the ones for libraries, aquariums, parks systems and the like, that are basically just trying to get people excited about learning and the wonder of history/science by posting things like this:
You know how much I would lose my mind if I was at an aquarium and turned a corner to see a wild ass heron staring at a fish tank

i understand (on paper) why companies are anti-piracy but its funny when random individuals are also strongly anti-piracy. like how does it negatively affect your life if someone you know downloads a cracked torrent of sims 4. you dont work for EA. EA isnt gonna pay you for this. you lose nothing. its fine. chill out.
Me and like 5 other people are the only quinnjoyers left on this bitch of an earth . 15 years strong babygirl i’ll never let you go

did you know that by the time fallow deer were introduced to the british isles in the eleventh century, drop spindle spinning was already at least an eight thousand year old craft?
it is thought by archaeologists and anthropologists that spinning developed from cordage rolling, where plant fibres and animal sinews would be rolled on the lap. this practice emerged between forty and thirty-four thousand years ago and is still practiced all over the world.
true spinning began with tying fibres to a rock and spinning the rock over ten thousand years ago and quickly developed into the drop spindle which consists of a stick and a whorl (or weight) around nine thousand years ago. the earliest drop spindles tend to be found in the fertile crescent and egypt, though it is not known whether this is where they first developed or where they preserved best.
there are many arguments about when and where the spinning wheel was invented. but when the normans were taking rule of england in the eleventh century, it would be another two hundred years before spinning wheels began to be used there and another three hundred years yet before wheels began to displace drop spindles within the british isles.
drop spindle spinning is so magical to me. i cannot help but imagine all the other people across time learning the same skills as me. it makes me feel a feeling i do not have a word for. i feel bound tightly with people i could not speak with but i could understand perfectly.
one of my friends in a discord server was talking about how they were nervous about their first scheduled acupuncture appointment. another friend offered to do a tarot reading for them. sent this picture.
There’s a liquor store near my house that seems to be run exclusively by frat boys. They lovingly curate these bags, which I browsed today while “Oops I Did It Again” played through the store speakers. This is art to me, there is beauty everywhere for those with eyes to see it
The update everyone has been waiting for….
everytime i see this it makes me want to buy from them exclusively
i tried to be funny and it backfired miserably
it’s 2014 it’s time we moved on as a nation and stop reblogging this
every person who reblogs this in 2015 is gonna get their ass kicked by yours truly
gonna start saying "this is setting men back 10 years" whenever some guy says some dumb shit
"this is really gonna hurt the male community"
My comment got nuked within minutes, no surprise there
it might help to go back to having a secret blog for your personal stuff and keeping this to stream and game related stuff. your personality and relationships are a big part of what you sell as a streamer alongside just gameplay, but setting boundaries could help you feel like theres an off mode to your work and prevent uncomfortable fan interactions. im asking this out of concern and im genuinely sorry if it makes you upset.
stifle yourself, your personality isn't marketable enough, only present yourself as neutral, unopinionated and uncomplicated so you can appeal to as many people as possible
I still won't forget when my wisdom tooth got infected and couldn't sleep bc the pain was so bad and I took like 4 of those those blue gel ibuprofens and I finally fell asleep for a couple hours and kept having dreams about beautiful glowing blue animals that help you and I kept waking up thinking the blue animals will help me and realizing wait what are blue animals they aren't real and immediately falling back asleep thinking about the blue animals again
