Four years have passed since the last, tragic expedition undertaken by the McDuck family. Now in high school, the young ducks find themselves faced with the opportunity for a new adventure, to get back into the life they once knew. But even as they agree and set off for danger, excitement and treasure, a question rises at the back of their minds - are they ready to go back?

Part 2 (Complete)

Adventuring once more, the Ducks find themselves going to Paris in search of a mystical talisman that could re-awaken a primeval terror. As they race to keep it out of the wrong hands, they find themselves fighting against one of Scrooge's most infamous enemies, all while a mysterious secret agent begins to string together a conspiracy to undermine them. 

Part 3 (Complete)

After their debacle under Paris, the McDuck family barely have time to get to grips with their previous adventure before heading off on their next! As the kids try to juggle school life with their adventuring career, Scrooge is forced to confront his past mistakes, culminating in a meeting with an old friend...

Part 4 (In Progress)

After their last traumatic misadventure, the McDucks decide that maybe taking a small break from adventuring is in ordering. But life doesn't slow down for the McDucks just because they want it too. Between duplicitous federal agents, high school house parties, and the machinations of an amateur drug ring, there's plenty of danger back home as there is abroad, and all while Scrooge's illness seems to be getting worse…

Yeah, this is an update that's been a while coming.

So, first off, it's great to hear that you're enjoying the fic! I put a lot of time into it, and I learned a lot from writing Part 2 in particular, so hopefully you'll enjoy it!

As for the second part of your question... well, yeah, you kinda hit the nail on the head. I'm not super into Ducktales at the moment, and I've been focusing more on my original works and my Fallout/Owl House crossover fic. I haven't worked on Aftermath for a while, and it's not looking likely that I will get back on Part 4 anytime soon. I don't want to flat out declare the story cancelled, 'cause someone went to the effort of turning the first three parts into physical books, but... well, I think it's going to be a while before it's back on my queue.

Aside from waning interest, the main thing stopping me from getting back on the horse with this fic is that the ending that I had planned for Aftermath doesn't really... work? It was going to be this dark, depressing sort of thing that was the culmination of each character's downward spiral, which doesn't really fit the "Action-Adventure-Comedy" thing that Ducktales has going on. I would've had to figure out another ending that tied up all the plot threads I had introduced in the previous parts, which was considerably more effort than I was willing to put in.

The other thing was the Scrooge vs FBI subplot. The whole thing with that (and by extension Jack Nickel as a character) was that it was supposed to be this nuanced debate on governance vs individualism that A, was too high-level a commentary for Indiana Jones-esque duck adventures, and B, really doesn't gel with what's going on in real-world American politics. So that would've needed to be rewritten too.

I think I took this story a bit too seriously in retrospect. If I were to rewrite it today, I'd probably go for something closer to a dark comedy, similar to Dragon Ball Z Abridged or The Venture Brothers. I've learnt that I don't really do happy stories, so something like that, that wasn't afraid to go dark while taking the piss out of itself, I think would've worked much better.

That all being said, I had a lot of fun writing this story, and I improved my skills quite a bit in the process. I don't want to just chuck away the characters I made for this, like Chanda or Jack Nickel, and I might do something with them in the future. But I think it is goodbye for now.

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. so many of the "i only use chat gpt for ___" excuses are concerning because people use it in place of learning basic, valuable skills.

you don't need chat gpt to write professional sounding emails for you, there are many many guides on the internet and with a bit of practise you can learn to write them yourself. a very important skill for a professional to have, and some of the basic rules will carry over into irl conversations!

you don't need chat gpt to be a "more detailed search engine", because you're robbing yourself of the chance to learn how to find and filter information on the internet and evaluate the credibility of sources. which is a VITAL skill. plus, chat gpt is notorious for being wrong?

if you use it to write essays, you're taking away your ability to hone your research skills, your writing skills, your critical thinking skills. your ability to create persuasive arguments!

and for most of the other reasons people use chat gpt, there are non-ai websites for that! for maths, wolfram alpha. for figuring out what you can cook with the ingredients you have there's supercook and the like. for creating routines, there's about a million apps!

whatever you "only" use chatgpt for i promise there are better websites out there that you don't have to worry will produce complete bullshit???? and destroy the environment???

I'm typing with a lot of anger and hurt right now so pardon me if don''t make sense. I've been told of people seeing excerpts of my written work showing up in character chat bots before, specfically with my IZ work and Solar Lunacy, and more recently The Rehabilitation of Death (TROD) and I'm so tired.

I've put these images together very hastily and I didn't have the heart to add much more. I've blocked out the names for the sake of privacy for the creators of these, but allow me to be explicitly clear:

Do not upload my artwork or fan fiction to AI, including c.ai.

I DO NOT consent for my work to be uploaded to any AI databases, chat bots, artificial character chat rooms or similar.

Not only are you morally fucking over authors and artists, but you can put us into severe legal trouble as well. This is not negotiable. I will never be able to undo the damage this has done, even if these chat bots go down, my writing and the artwork is now uploaded to the database.

This has made me reconsider sharing my writing online more than any online discourse would have ever done. If you do this, please consider what damage and disrespect you are doing to us, and please block me if you're fine with it.

So... not gonna lie, I've kinda been writing a different fanfic recently. I haven't worked on Aftermath for a while, and I'm not gonna lie... interest is starting to wane a bit.

I don't want to flat-out say that Aftermath's cancelled, but I think it's safe to say that we're going on hiatus on this one. I might write a more light-hearted Ducktales fic at some point, but I don't have any concrete plans.
