To be fair, Rocky also needed some time to correctly interpret Graces needs- (I also did Grace comforting Rocky here)
Is this some ptsd, in this economy? Kind of the second part to [THIS].
Daniel Sloss SAID IT THANK YOU DANIEL SLOSS
Reblogging again now that Russell Brand's ugly mug is back in the news to remind everyone that in the 2023 Times expose on his abusive behaviour, Daniel Sloss was the only male comedian willing to be named and quoted like "yeah that dude's a scumbag and women have been warning each other about him for years."
You are a villain famous for “killing” heroes. In reality, heroes come to you to fake their deaths.
Sometimes they try to pay you.
You are posted out by the Hollywood sign tonight, sitting under the frame where the W used to be. It got burnt to a crisp during last week’s big superhero fight. A hero died right where you’re sitting. The whole area’s been closed down until Hero Force can coordinate a recovery effort. Usually it’d be done by now but no one’s willing to touch it until the ash has been completely blown away.
It’s a rule that the world must stand still when a hero dies.
“How much?”
The voice comes from behind you. The lights that illuminate the Hollywood sign are down to hide as much of the scorch marks as possible. You wouldn’t be able to see anything even if you did turn around, so you don’t.
You put some chapstick on, the glide of the balm against your wind chapped lips grounding.
“I said,” the Hero says, voice tightening, “How. Much.”
There’s the sound of gravel crunching now. They’re wearing heavy boots and the scent of fresh blood grows stronger the closer they get. Their breathing is smooth and even which means it’s not their blood.
You put the cap back on your chapstick and tuck it into your leather jacket’s inner pocket. “I don’t take money.”
“Then what do you take?” The Hero rounds the Y and comes into your line of sight. The dark hides most of their features, but you can make out a glittering gold mask and the dull shine of drying blood on their chest plate. Their breathing may be even, but their stance isn’t. They sway in place, back and forth, back and forth. Their arms wrap around their stomach. “I’ve got land. A house. You can have it.”

This is more inspirational than I think it was originally intended to be
Ribbon dancing I was not aware of your evolution 🤯
One of the most annoying genres of people on the internet are people who act like they believe science is one single monolithic thing. Like, you'll see an article saying something like "scientists studying the movement of tectonic plates", and then in the comments there'll be several smug people saying "smh why are scientists doing this instead of finding a cure for cancer", like. Why would a geologist be doing that.
She should be at the club
Baby mouse had earplugs in the sketch and I straight up forgot to ink them pretend they're deep in there
Meanwhile not at the club:
I was so enamored by the party shrew this morning I had to doodle her in my lab notebook at work
i just feel like we dont have time for this right now
I know i've said it before, but if you are concerned it could be real and not a scam, the best way to avoid getting scammed is to return contact separately.
Here's how that works:
say you get a text from your internet provider, let's say it's Comcast (whom i hate). So you have this text that says it's from Comcast about your bill with a contact number and a clickable link -- could be real, could be a scam.
Don't touch anything about this text. Open a web browser and look up the customer service number for Comcast. Or get the number from the bill they send you. However you do it, get the contact info for Comcast from a trusted source, like an official phone directory or the Comcast website itself.
Get in touch with them using that information.
So. Let's run the example both ways it could go.
If it IS a scam: you reach out to Comcast and tell them you were contacted about a problem with your bill, they look you up in their customer database, and they tell you there is no problem with your bill.
If it's NOT a scam, you do the same thing, they look you up, and they explain the problem. In this case, neither Comcast nor the employees involved give a single shit whether or not you clicked the link in the text vs. going through their official website.
This works the same for the your bank, the IRS, Amazon, political causes, charities, everything.
By handling any questionable incoming calls to action this way, you significantly protect yourself from scams and malware and shit
You can do this with phone calls too!!! If a company calls you asking for some info or about a problem with you card/account/whatever you can ask them for a reference number for your case and call back later. You don't have to give a reason but if you feel awkward you can just say you have a meeting in 2 minutes but can call back another time to deal with it.
If it's not scam they'll be like sure, here's the reference number. Then you follow the instructions above, call the separate number you find yourself on a reputable website and give that person the reference number. And they'll help you resolve the issue.
Don't let scammers scare you over the phone into giving them sensitive information!!!!
great addition ^^^
Happy Grab A Shovel Or Skedaddle Sunday
Anatolian shepherd dog puppy in training
they live with the herd and the herd accepts them as part of the herd, just, “that’s our Dave, he’s a bit strange but we love him, knew him when he was just a lamb you know” and the dog just lives among them as one of them but then if a wolf or somethin comes along the herd is like “O Reely? Have you met our Dave” and the wolf gets to make the acquaintance of Dave, 200 lbs of teeth and muscle who believes the wolf is there to kill his actual family and is pretty upset about it.
that is the difference between a shepherd guarding dog and a shepherd herding dog. Herding dogs are NOT part of the herd, they use modified hunting techniques to bully the herd into moving where they are meant to go. They are built for speed and agility, often as small as 35 to 45 lbs, and are absolutely no match for a wolf. Plus, the herd doesn’t trust them, is suspicious of them, which is how the herding works
This is also why herding breeds are often very intelligent and trainable, because we made them to work with us, while livestock guardian dogs most often do not make good pets for most modern lifestyles - we bred them to work independently, away from people, and make their own decisions without human input.
This addition is SO true. Livestock guardian dogs rate low on traditional dog “intelligence” tests not because they’re stupid, but because they’re so independent.
I read one scientist’s remark on why they scored a Great Pyrnees low and it as essentially “this dog knows exactly what I want him to do but he’s ignoring me.”
Rocket scientists who leave the rocket industry keep thinking everything is a rocket and it's kind of adorable
"We can honeycomb this to reduce the weight" sweetie no that's going to be twice as expensive to manufacture and we are not launching it anywhere.
"If we use titanium instead of steel we'll save a bunch of weight" baby you need to stop worrying so much about your weight! And maybe worry more about what happens to titanium when you expose it to deuterium plasma.
One of the things I love about watching people make art on the internet is clocking the way they use the tools they know. The way a nail artist makes miniatures is completely different than the way a polymer clay artist does the same thing. How a whittler and a painter approach printmaking.
Consider the ways in which you are a rocket engineer.
So, a funny thing happened on trigun twitter
(amazon link where its 50% off as of May 8th: https://www.amazon.com/This-How-You-Lose-Time/dp/1534430997/)
Update, “this is how you lose the time war” is now #21 on Amazon’s bestseller’s list
(semi-related note but I too have now ordered the book)
another update: Amal El -Mohtar wrote a small article on her blog (https://amalelmohtar.com/i-tried-to-title-this-post-for-twenty-minutes-and-failed/), one which contains the words “[…] and the upshot of it all is that corporate marketing people at Simon & Schuster now know the name Bigolas Dickolas.”
Further update!
Time war has reached #7 on the amazon bestseller’s list and is still discounted!
(thread found here: https://twitter.com/tithenai/status/1655613629604016151?s=20)
In addition:
I know it made it up to #6 at one point. Being a pre-existing fan of both Trigun and This is How You Loose the Time War made this especially enjoyable.
I’m just going to add some more Twitter screencaps I pasted into the groupchat.
The producer of Trigun Stampede. (No word from Nightow yet, I checked.)
A literary agent. To be precise, the agent of at least one of the authors of Time War.
Slate, posting their article about the whole thing.
A frenzy of mutual adoration and signed hardcover offers.
Other authors want in on the Bigolas Dickolas goodness.
Dongwon again.
Saw this on Twitter and HAH.
Bigolas Dickolas is now Alexander the Great.
And finally, the forecast is good for a livestream of Max and Amal watching Trigun.
This is apparently still unfolding! Tumblr “news” is sometimes 5 years old so I wasn’t sure 😂 The latest - it’s up to #3!!
LMFAOO YEAH I JUST SAW IT HIT #3 been trying to keep this post updated but didn’t want to spam, and the speed at which these things have been happening is beautifully astounding so:
trigun, following bigolas dickolas, has also become a trending topic in business and finance
Interview with Bun (or Mr. Bigolas)
Crossover art (https://twitter.com/xxrat__punkxx/status/1656446745088278529?s=20)
thread of semi-current placements on the book
memes
and the situation very much escaping online confinement xD
A significant number of hours later (and too much to summarize):
Time War summary: reached #3 on Amazon overall, #1 (and 2, And 3) in science fiction romance, #3 in lit and fiction, social media presence overseas, and-
printing with a bigolas dickolas sleeve and so much more
Bridging the two: so many articles
slate article
techcrunch article
insider article
kotaku article
Gizmodo article
tor.com
polygon
and etc
And then on the bigolas dickolas trigun side-
And then after tweeting @ dark horse for a potential trigun maximum (trimax) reprint due to the eng verison being out of print for several years by this point:
so everything can now basically be summed by by this tweet!
(I don’t know if i’ll keep updating this thread considering how many branches there are and idk how much more this can escalate, but I’m keeping an eye on the situation so we’ll see!!)
For those asking what time war is about, per Mr. Bigolas’s post: DO NOT look up anything about it. Just read it.
For those asking about trigun, it is an amazing manga, anime adaptation, and new reboot anime.
its been over a year since all this first occurred, but felt it was necessary to tack on that bigolas dickolas declined the Hugo that the infamous tweet was nominated for 😂
…It’s an amazing world. :)
