Apart from it being really funny in general, it's really fun that the makers of the Murderbot TV show actually made somethign that Murderbot would ACTUALLY care about making it on to the TV show:

The sequence is PERFECT. It absolutely nails the vibe. They didn't make it in to something epic that everyone would want to watch. They made it a perfect example of what you'd expect from a show where everyone is incredulous that it's someone's favorite while still being popular.

It's garbage, but it's also Premium Quality Entertainment.

Character: Fuck I had a bit of an episode and made a bunch more brainwashed slaves while my girlfriend created a whole bunch of super painful deadly plagues and unleashed them in the forest. God I love my brainwashed slaves. I wonder how my ally who's traumatised over that time she kidnapped a bunch of people and ate them alive over a period of several months is doing.

Character's love interest: Okay while you were gone I turned this man into a physical copy of you and brainwashed him to love me while he begged for death as he felt his own mind break down. Anyway I've named her Toy. She's my maid now. I keep her around to remind myself how evil I am. Because that's a pretty fucking evil thing to do.

Character: That's nuts, you wanna help me do something fucked up and evil to my enemies, who are also fucked up and evil?

Reader: Does the author realise that these characters are not good people???

This is literally what people are talking about when they say AI will be used to mainstream widely held bigotry. LLMs are trained on frequency and probability -> straight relationships are more well represented in the dataset -> straight pronouns and terms become the "correct" normal.

This is a form of backdoor bigotry from both normative facts (there are more straight than gay relationships) and well represented bigoted beliefs (men are superior to women).

Combine this with the mass of people inclined to believe (and being encouraged to believe) that if AI says and does something it must be correct

I have a male character who is a healer. Every goddamn time I have an AI LLM on in a word processor, I will know because that fucking thing always tries to make Aza a woman.

It's a nice way to know there's hidden AI but also... fucking gender essentialist bullshit. There is no reason for it to think he is a woman other than the fact that he has healing magic. None.

AI is not the solution to any problem you have with your own writing. It never will be.
