annie lay, back pressed into the ground eyes staring up to the sky. ❝ what do you think is up there? ❞ she asked, eyes squinting slightly as if by doing so she might be able to see better as to what might be out there. ❝ and i don’t mean like, up there like heaven - ❞ she felt the need to clarify, too much time with the parents at ben’s catholic school meant that she had to be careful with such questions, ❝ i mean like aliens. ❞
peggy hasn’t believed in heaven in a long time , so when annie corrects herself , the brunette can’t help but smile . “ aliens ?” she questions , her own blue eyes narrowing at the sky above them . “ -- what i know about aliens is highly classified information but --” she pauses to roll her head to look at annie . “ i’d love to hear your ideas . not that i can confirm or deny it .”

the confession takes her by surprise . it’s nothing like she thought it was going to be , that’s not what she thought was going to come out of addision mouth . peggy’s own mouth opens for a moment and then closes again as she watches her roommate closely . “ i don’t -” she tilts her head to one side, eyebrows furrowing . “ i don’t know what to say addison. why didn’t you tell me before ?” she blinks . “ or is this a ploy for me not to go out on a date tonight ?”
[ NURSE ] for one muse to tend to the other while they’re recovering from injuries. // @razorfst
a sigh falls from her lips as he stiches up the cut on her arm. “ i’m fine --” she huffs, blue eyes looking away from where he works . “ it’ll heal in no time . i’m a super soilder remember ? i don’t need someone fixing me up . it’s not worth it .”

sounds of the gunshots & conflict still rings clear in her ears — god, she sure hopes she doesn’t develop tinnitus from this. there’s no denying the heat & the force she felt moments before she slowed it down enough so it just nicked her skin — letting out just enough blood for her to enact a bloody act of transfiguration : faking her own death in the moment until he was gone. when the coast is clear, she sits up — rolls her neck, stretching out all the sore bones & muscles in her torso. as if moth drawn to a flame, she picks up a piece of shattered glass to really take a good look at her own reflection.
❝ fuck … ❞ fingers snapped, & the fake site of gore fades into dust, leaving her only with that unfortunate knick on her forehead & that bullet betwixt her fingers as a memento. ❝ i spent three hours in that hair salon ― on my day off too. ❞ she grumbles, eyes peering down at her familiar that pops out of thin air in the shape of a calico cat. ❝ well… it could be salem. could always be worse, right? ❞
but then footsteps register & she realizes that she might not have been alone. like a deer in the headlights, she pulls a sheepish smile on her lips. ❝ uh… that one of your suitors? ❞

the knowledge that her job puts others in harm is never lost on her . she has been the reason numerous people have died . she sent men into battle with the knowledge that they might not return , that they might not make it out alive. then there was steve and his self sacrifice - something she attempts not to think about .
head tilts to the side as she exits the bathroom , eyebrows raised at her roommate . “ i don’t have any suitors . a fact that you are quite aware of --” peggy has a lot of men wanting her attention , but she can’t seem to find one she wants to give it to.
“ care to explain what --” she waves her hand “-- all that was about ?”

IT’S A DANGEROUS GAME FOR THEM TO PLAY , but the thrill was something he had always sought . what was life without a little danger ? a little excitement ? she’s so close , so close he can almost feel her warmth through the layers of clothes between them . he towers over her , yet it’s she who holds all the power , and not just in their professional setting , but in this moment as well . he’s tried to behave himself , to not overstep his bounds due to their dynamic and his respect for her , but now that he thinks they might be on the same page … ❝ well , Director … i do just so happen to be into it . very much so . ❞
moments pass by , nothing uttered between them , nothing changing - just her staring up at him . she’s in control . she knows this . she’s the one in power - peggy knows ben wouldn’t dare to over step . if anything happens between them , it’s going to be at her decision . perhap she’s overthinking this , perhaps going for it is more her speed . maybe she should just surge forward and kiss him - so that’s what she does . her hands go to either side of his face , pulling him down towards her , bright red lips parting to pull his bottom one between them , white teeth biting down gently on the flesh .
