yonderland really fucking nailed the art of being able to be only a comedy show while also giving negatus horrendous trauma that instantly makes the audience sympathise with him. like, the sheer mastery in presenting the childhood abuse he went through as a joke, while also showing how it affected and still affects his life to this day, and in no way minimising how appalling his treatment was, is genuinely genius. they juggled it so well where it doesn't bring you out of the comedy and the inherent silliness of the show, but still allows for deeper thought and character analysis and immediately paints his whole character in a different light, and idk i think that's really cool.
