Looker was against having a partner for a long time because of what happened in Kalos with Emma, and even against having a pokemon for a partner because of what happened to his croagunk. However, seeing Nate’s drive and determination to be in Interpol, and understanding that any new recruit especially young, can get caught in a web of distrust lies and corruption common in the group- he set caution aside for the moment to accept the boy as a partner.

Though what he never expected was to grow fond of him, like a son. But here we are,

It started an ordinary work day for the members of Interpol, small cases and leads coming in for the bigger ones.  However,  as the head of the Ultra Beast Task Force began to look at the new files that came in, something felt wrong. Anabel frowned when she felt a buzzing in her pocket. 

It was from Looker.. though the contents, in the message, is what set off her alarm. Her eyes grew wide, and she took a screenshot before calling the Director.

“They found me. Help.” 

After letting him know, she tried calling Looker’s phone. But every time it went straight to voice mail. “Shit... Looker what happened..?”

That... was a rough go. Looker sighed from exhaustion once back at the station, back from the mission he was sent on. The crogunk at his side made a displeased noise. “Next time, it’ll go on better.” He promised his partner, who nodded in agreement. 

It was something to do with the ultra beasts roaming free on Alola and terrorizing unsuspecting people. Except this time, the particular beast got the better of him and almost... well. The cuts and bruises were enough of an understatement. Thank Arceus that Nate wasn’t involved.

Slowly trudging inside, he was surprised to find Anabel still there and awake despite it being night time. “Anabel-”

A soft smile, man was he lucky to have such an amazing partner like her. She was a good sight to see, after such horrible a mission. “I am too, thank you for waiting for me.”

“Working with Anabel?” He repeats the question as if to get some clarification, but his heart swells a little at the thought. What can he say about working with her? There were way too many words to put into a single thought.

“I wouldn’t say a dream, because she surpasses any dream I could ever think of in my mind, but I do love every day with her at my side.” There’s a silence that passes, before he realizes the wording and his face lights up bright red.

“I- Of course I meant at work! By my side at work!!”

Now I'm just imagining Looker trying to interrogate some punk kid, and in his attempt to do so uses slang wrong, and who ever is in the interrogation room with him just sighs and looks over to him while the punk kid is no longer threatened in the slightest.

“I am spilling the tea on you, as it were, because you are a sus.” Looker slams his hand down on the table, this punk kid, he knew what he did.

“I am sure your parents will be very salty at you I have the receipts to prove this, so if you cut the “extra”, and say yaas to your crimes, I will throw this shade away and let you off with a warning.”

Almost a completely detailed list and meanings of slang words used by younger people. He’s always adding to it, as well as popular meme terms he doesn’t understand and has to look up. Every time he discovers something new, he puts it in there.
