Tumblr posts will often tag reblog bait with the tag "#reblog bait" or similar tags like "#tw reblog bait", "cw reblog bait", "reblog bait tw", and more.
Reblog bait content is unfortunately most common on awareness posts, which often have important information to share but unfortunately end up inaccessible to those distressed by reblog bait due to the moral pressures put onto these users to avoid being a bad person.
With this, and especially as someone who's all too familiar with what it's like to feel pressured by share-bait (which I've had to manage since my first exposure to share-bait when I was 12 years old), I would say these messages to those who are also affected by share-bait:

I tag my posts in order of train of thought. if I think abt it first, it's the first tag. if I think abt another thing after that, it's the second, etc etc
but lately I've begun to fear that when I do that for posts that are about important issues, the tag I think of last is the one I actually secretly think is Less Bad or Less Important than the others.

I will NOT be watching the HBO show. I may talk about certain things - like “don’t hate on the kids” - but I am NOT watching it or giving it views. This is partly because yes, for me my Harry Potter will always be Dan, Rupert, Emma & co., but also because JK Rowling is a despicable human being and I refuse to give any of my hard earned money to that c*nt. I’ve recently begun using she/they pronouns and tentatively identifying as non-binary, but even so it costs nothing to be a half decent human being.
If you watch the HBO show, you are complicit and helping JKR push her anti-trans narrative.
If the show gets views, she will make money from it, they’ll make more seasons, she makes more money etc. She uses that money to fund anti-trans groups and campaigns, making the lives of trans people harder. She spreads and incites hatred that leads to trans people being assaulted and murdered every day.
Read a different book and watch a different show. Do NOT give it view time. Your nostalgia for the series is NOT more important than trans people having dignity and rights.

Some alternatives to Harry Potter:
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer - a lot of people might know him from Glee, but he’s an incredible writer who has written absolutely amazing fantasy books and who also happens to be openly gay (Chris has also expressed support for trans people). These books are appropriate for children but there’s also adult humour added in for older readers. It starts with 12 year old fraternal twins called Alex and Connor who are dealing with losing their dad when they’re transported into their grandmother’s “Land of Stories” book, and they meet all the characters from their favourite fairytales while also learning about themselves. It’s quite a fun spin on a lot of fairytales, for example Goldilocks is an outlaw who has a really beautiful love story with Jack from Jack in the Beanstalk. I’m doing a shit job explaining but these books are so funny and heartwarming, and I love them even as an adult!
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman - I cannot recommend HDM enough! I’ve been a fan of the trilogy since I was 10, and it’s one of those series that has so many themes and ideas. The protagonist of the first book is a girl called Lyra who lives in a world where every human has a “dæmon” - an embodiment of their soul that walks by their side as an animal - and Lyra’s is called Pantalaimon (Pan for short). In the book, she goes on a quest to the North to rescue her friend Roger who has been kidnapped by “Gobblers”, people who take pre-pubertal kids and do experiments on them. She develops a bond with an armoured bear called Iorek who is the rightful king of Svalbard, and with an aeronaut called Lee Scoresby. Lyra is fierce and wild and a good liar - such a good liar that Iorek names her “Lyra Silvertongue”. In the second book we meet the other series protagonist, Will Parry, a 12 year old who comes from our world and is on the run after he accidentally kills a man; he travels between worlds and meets Lyra, and the two become friends (later love interests). The books are so beautifully written, and Pullman has also written a spin off series called “The Book of Dust” - so far two are released (La Belle Sauvage and The Secret Commonwealth), and he said that the third instalment is due to be released this year! HDM has also been turned into an HBO/BBC show with Dafne Keen, Amir Wilson, James McAvoy, Kit Connor (as the voice of Pan), Ruth Wilson and so many other esteemed actors.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis - I’ve loved Narnia ever since I was 7 (going on 8) and I watched the 2005 adaptation of LWW for the first time at the cinema. There’s seven Narnia books, chronologically staring with The Magician’s Nephew which features Digory Kirke as the protagonist (he later reappears as the elderly professor who the Pevensies stay with in LWW). The most popular Narnia stories are the ones featuring the Pevensie siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy - they feature in 5/7 of the books: LWW, the Horse and his Boy (as adults ruling Narnia), Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Last Battle. VOTDT also introduces us to Eustace Scrubb, the Pevensies’ cousin (who was brought to life in the film absolutely perfectly by Will Poulter), and then the next book (The Silver Chair) features him and his school friend Jill Pole in Narnia. These books are such classics, and I absolutely adore them all. I know Greta Gerwig is currently developing a Narnia adaptation for Netflix - I think she’s doing The Magician’s Nephew judging by casting so far - but there’s movie adaptations of LWW, Prince Caspian and VOTDT made by Disney/Fox that you can watch on Disney+. There’s also an older BBC series adaptation that features LWW, PC, VOTDT and TSC, though some of the effects are charmingly aged (like the man-sized beavers for example, but Caspian is at least the right age in this one)
How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell - the HTTYD books are INSANELY good and can be read by all ages. The books are about a Viking runt called Hiccup, the son of the Chief of Berk, and he has a small dragon called Toothless who talks in the third person, stutters, and likes to cause mischief. The first few books are light hearted but as they go on they get darker and more adult, and the illustrations go from almost cute little scribbles to insanely detailed pieces of art. There’s a girl called Camicazi who’s an absolute ICON, and Hiccup’s best friend Fishlegs is such an amazing character who develops just as much as Hiccup does, and who’s loyal to the end. The Dreamworks film trilogy doesn’t follow the books at all but the films are still so incredible and beautifully made; the films are about Hiccup, who trains a Night Fury (which is seen as the most dangerous of all dragon species) that he names Toothless, and they have this incredible bond that leads to the entirety of Berk training and befriending dragons too. The films are about Hiccup growing from a teenager to a man, and about him eventually stepping up to be the Chief of Berk; his love interest, Astrid, is fierce, brave, and rides a Deadly Nadder called Stormfly - she’s his most trusted confidante, and she’s such a badass. There’s also a series set between the first and second movies; there’s the Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk, which kind of serve as one series with two seasons, and then there’s the Netflix series Race to the Edge which runs for six seasons. The TV shows are actually worth a watch because they feature the same voice actors for Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs and Tuffnut as the movies do (Jay Baruchel, you will always be MY Hiccup 🫶🏻)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien - if you love high fantasy then you need to read (or at least watch) LOTR. I cannot state enough how incredible this series is. Tolkien was a literal master of his craft, creating entire other languages in his books and developing the world and history of Middle-Earth extensively. The series starts with a hobbit named Frodo who goes on a quest with his gardener Samwise Gamgee and two of his cousins, Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took, to bring the One Ring, an evil ring created by Sauron, to Rivendell, though he then later decides he will take it all the way to Mordor to destroy it. There are so many incredible characters both in the Fellowship and outside of it: there’s Aragorn, the rightful king of Gondor, Legolas, an elven archer and son of the Thranduil King of Mirkwood, Gimli, a proud dwarf who has a competitive relationship with Legolas, Gandalf the Grey (later the White), a wizard who Frodo is friends with and who loves the hobbits etc. There aren’t as many female characters, but Eowyn of Rohan is badass as fuck because she rides into battle disguised as a man because she wants to fight for her people, and she kills the Witch-King of Angmar alongside Merry. It goes without saying that of course you should read The Hobbit too as this is a prequel to LOTR. If you don’t read the books, at the very least watch Peter Jackson’s film trilogy because they are quite literally the single greatest trilogy made in the history of cinema; beautifully shot, with actors who are perfect for each of their roles (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee etc) The extended editions are my preferred watch personally, because it adds in a lot of really amazing scenes - especially ones involving Merry and Pippin in the second and third movies.
If you absolutely must engage in Harry Potter or you have kids/family into Harry Potter:
Buy the films secondhand. In the UK, a shop called Cex ALWAYS has the Harry Potter movies for a low price on DVD, and they have stores all over the country. Failing that, there’s always eBay and charity shops.
You can also buy the books secondhand in charity shops or on eBay. Failing that, go to your local library and you can take out the books for free if you want to read them! Libraries are extremely important and you should support your local libraries!
If you want to play any Harry Potter games (Hogwarts Legacy, the tie in games for the movies, Lego Harry Potter), you can also buy those secondhand from places like eBay, Cex, Game etc I’m sure there’s similar stores in America that sell secondhand Harry Potter games!
If you want House scarves/hats/gloves etc then you can always just learn to make them. Knitting and crochet are such fun hobbies, and it gives you something to do! If you really don’t want to learn to knit or crochet, then you could probably buy ones that people have made and are selling on places like Etsy.
If you’re like me and you’ve already bought the Harry Potter stuff you’ve paid for, then there’s not really a lot you can do about that - my books, movies and games etc were gifts from family when I was 11. You can donate to Trans charities, however, and continue to show your support for trans rights both online and in person.
If you really must watch the show for some fucking reason, then pirate the damn thing. Go to a dodgy movie website and watch it. Do NOT interact with HBO or SkyAtlantic or whoever is broadcasting it in your region.
Obviously by engaging with the franchise in any capacity - even reading/writing fanfiction or creating fanart - you are still promoting the series unfortunately. I myself am guilty of this, even now that I’m identifying as non-binary. But the very least you can do is NOT buy any Harry Potter products or watch the show.
I think it's a really fascinating phenomenon that some tumblr leftists are so obsessed with suffering that they've looped all the way back around to saying "wanting anything more than suffering is a sin and having any free time or joy in your life makes you privileged and lazy-" which is coincidentally the same thing that rich people and corporations say about "lazy millennials and gen z" (read: the working class rewritten into a generational conflict by popular media). The tumblr leftists just call it "petite bourgeois" instead.
