Nowhere to go. Nothing around but giant walls of white, far too slippery to climb. There is no hope for this traveler, far from their element
They’ve made loop after loop of their prison, desperately hoping for some crevice, some area with enough friction to climb. But alas, their efforts have proven pointless.
Then, as if a gift from the Gods themselves, a path springs forth! Finally a ray of hope, some peace returns to the mind of our friend.
Unbeknownst to the spider, a terror appears just as quickly as the miracle that can save their life. A huge beast, sent from the depths of hell. The scent of panic is all that crosses the beast’s mind as it approaches.
It descends into the vast whiteness, ready to hunt its prey. There will be no mercy, only the methodical blows from paws that have felt life escape this plane of existence far too many times for any mortal to comprehend
Full of fear, the spider scrambles for the exit. If they can climb fast enough, then maybe... just maybe, they can live to tell the tale of their brush with death
The beast, unfortunately, is far too powerful to escape that easily. With one blow, crushing the body of our protagonist into its only means of life, the beast takes the soul of yet another. An insignificant being to the beast, the spider will be forgotten amongst the hundreds of others that have died before
What cruel plans the Gods must have to let this happen. A poor, innocent being, lost and afraid, slaughtered after being given the hope for life. A roller coaster of emotion, with a final drop towards hell
As life fades too slowly for comfort from the spider, it prays to the Gods. Not out of hope, but out of anger. A prayer for the Gods to learn compassion, to understand the plight of their inferiors. Why must they seek entertainment from the torturing of those weaker than them? Would it not bring more joy to see such a pathetic thing overcome hardship and break expectations, rather than a predictable death from the paws of a creature with no other purpose than to kill for fun?
The Gods look upon the sight once more, hearing nothing but a whisper that should be a prayer. They are too high above those they command to understand what struggles they truly go through. To the eyes of a god, there is only a scene of amusement. No expectations are had, as even from the beginning they never cared whether the spider lived or died. They gave the spider a chance. Some way to freedom. To them, that is the limit of their power. To the spider, it is only a cruel joke.
