Very Berry Christmas Cocktail
Hello everyone! Not long time left until Christmas - only 29 days!!! Are you already get into festive mood?
Today I`m gonna share with you one great festive cocktail idea. It`s open for improvising and perfect to keep the spirit on at your Christmas party.
As you already know, I love cinnamon and all Christmas spices. So today`s recipe will be really jolly and spicy. It requires a little bit of preparation but trust me after that you won`t regret the effort.
First you need to prepare your Spicy Jolly Syrup. There are two ways of preparation. It all depends on you and your budget.Â
Type 1 Spicy Jolly Syrup:
500 ml Water
200 g Brown sugar
100 g Honey
100 g Fresh ginger
100 g Fresh cranberries
50 g Fresh Raspberries
Dry Cherries
Prunes
4 Cinnamon sticks
A few drops of Lemon juice
Type 2 Spicy Jolly Syrup:
500 ml Water
200 g Brown sugar
100 g Honey
100 g Fresh ginger
2-3 teaspoons Very berry tea ( or any forest fruits tea)
2-4 Cinnamon sticks
A few drops of Lemon juice
Preparation:
The directions are the same for both recipes. Boil the water, add all other ingredients in order - sugar, honey, ginger (diced), tea/berries, cinnamon, and finally squeeze a wedge of lemon. In my recipe I have used very nice festive tea from Ronnefeldt  . It`s a blend of dried apple, pineapple, black currants, prunes, and elderflower already spiced with cinnamon, so I added just 2 cinnamon sticks in addition. After ten minutes remove from the heat and strain the syrup. Let it chill for a few hours. After pour into a hermetic bottle or jar and store in the fridge. One bottle is enough for about 30-35 cocktails (depends on your taste).
Great! Your Spicy Jolly Syrup is ready and you can use it trough the whole winter season. Now it`s time to prepare the cocktail.Â
Very Berry Christmas Cocktail:
15 ml Spicy Jolly Syrup (or more if you like it sweeter)
30 ml Vanilla flavoured vodka
15 ml Apple juice
5-10 ml Lemon juice
Champagne/Sparkling wineÂ
Dry berries for garnish
Preparation:
Shake the vodka, apple juice, and lemon juice together with a lot of ice. Don`t worry if you don`t have a shaker at home! You can simply strain over the ice into a glass. Then slowly, using a spoon, add the Spicy Jolly Syrup. Because it`s heavier, it will go strait to the bottom of the glass and you will get a fancy looking multi-layered cocktail. Top up with a splash of baubles and garnish with dry berries.
Tips:
As I already said, this cocktail is open for improvising.Â
-If you are not a fan of vodka, you could replace it with gin ( best is elderflower flavoured gin ).Â
-You can make it a long drink with simply add some extra apple juice to your cocktail.
-You can improvise with the decoration. You can use cinnamon stick, fresh cranberries etc.Â
-Always serve with a cocktail straw or a stirrer (you can use a cinnamon stick, or sugar candy as a stirrer). It`s important the cocktail to be well stirred before consumption.
-You also can use the Spicy Jolly Syrup for making a lot of festive mocktails using fruit juices and soft drinks.
And now it`s time to enjoy this delicious drink!
Cheers!
