i am from ireland

i love cats more than anything in the world. my favourite species are servals, leopards, european wildcats and all species of lynx(but especially iberian). my favourite domestic breed is the oriental longhair, but my favourite cats in general are black and white tuxedo cats (i have two!), and classic brown tabbies (i have one!). i am staunchly against the keeping&breeding of wild cats for the pet trade, so ill probably block anyone who puts that stuff on my feed

my other favourite animals are pine martens, stoats, red foxes, brown hyenas and the irish hare. my favourite bird is the white stork, followed by rooks and pied wagtails

my special interest is anthropomorphic animal art. this ranges from furry-related art (my fursona is a kellas cat!), fandom and history, but truly anything that falls under the umbrella of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic is on my radar. feel free to recommend me works in this vein, im obsessed to say the least! my favourite anthro works of all time are the 1937 film "tale of the fox", and the 2010 game "solatorobo".

i studied animation+illustration. im mostly a furry artist, but i dont have a tumblr account for that. feel free to ask for my toyhouse and other socials if you want it!

im a big music guy but theres too much to list! my favourite album of all time is kalk seman kuri no hana (2003) by sheena ringo and my favourite band is machine girl. some other acts i love are tokyo jihen, fucking werewolf asso, the garden, kumo 99, kiltro, aliceband, hop along, etc.

i really like mystery visual novels! when they cry trilogy, 999, gnosia are my favourites, but ive read/played a lot more

i am a huge pokemon fan too! my favourite pokemon ever is unovan zoroark, followed by the hisuian form (+zoruas) as well as liepard. dark is my favourite type. my favourite legendaries are suicune, type:null and chien-pao. my favourite dex is unova followed by hoenn. my favourite games are pmd:sky and poképark 1+2.

I’d die on the hill that “stranger danger” is a deeply unhelpful mentality to have. “Ooooh everyone is out to get me they’re all gonna perpetrate harm that’s actually more likely to come from someone I already know. I better never talk to anyone in my community who I don’t already know, just to be safe. I’m sure there are no other biases interwoven with this mentality” like oh my god human traffickers do not just randomly spawn in every parking lot. You don’t have to go solo hitchhiking across the country but you also don’t have to live in fear that every guy on the street is the knife man who’s gonna get you. Like have situational awareness, yeah. But most of the time the guy on the street is not knife man he’s actually just a guy on the street and he’s probably pretty chill, and you’re driving yourself crazy by living in a constant state of unnecessary fear.

Like always safety comes first, especially if you’re in a marginalized group more likely to be targeted by random people around you. But that’s different from stranger danger. I might even say that stranger danger is something that contributes to marginalized groups getting targeted by random people. Which strangers do you find distrust worthy? Why? Does vague distrust justify harmful actions in the name of self defense? Stranger danger draws everyone away from more important issues of safety (underlying bigotries, systemic injustices, abuse in the home, etc) and towards an amorphous boogeyman that has no solution, because it’s not the real cause or culprit.

what people don’t understand about how adhd is disabling is that it’s not just getting temporarily distracted from, like, school work or hobbies. it’s getting distracted/being unable to motivate yourself to go to the doctor, eat regularly, do hygiene tasks, etc. it’s not knowing when or how long it will take you to do something, ANYTHING, and in many cases that thing is taking a shower or keeping your house from turning into a biohazard. it’s about being fundamentally incapable of controlling your attention and focus on anything, even and especially things you need to do to survive.

More than "here in the Southern Hemisphere we have inverted seasons :)" thing, which is TECHNICALLY true, I would go a step further and encourage to think about that "much of the world does not exactly has a spring-summer-fall-winter season sequence as they show in cartoons"

I will scream about this to anyone who listens forever. AUSTRALIA DOES NOT HAVE "ENGLISH SEASONS BUT BACKWARDS" and the insistence that it does creates a massive layer of alienation from the natural world.

I never really realised how much difference it makes until I went to England and realised that here the change of seasons is an obvious, visible, physical change in the world. Like, everything REALLY IS orange and foggy in autumn! In spring there are flowers EVERYWHERE, so much more than any other season, and the trees really do have all blossom and no leaves. Even if it doesn't snow, in winter there's frost all the time and the trees are bare and the sky is visibly greyer all the time. You don't need to be told "this date is the first day of spring", you can SEE IT (although this is getting way messier and less precise due to climate change).

By contrast, most places in Australia the seasons we're taught feel like arbitrary categories - and is it any surprise considering they're colonial constructs? Orange-leaved autumn and blossom-covered spring is a cartoon stereotype with no relevance on a continent where ALL NATIVE TREES ARE EVERGREEN!! Snowy winters are a joke in the desert, and even sunny summers don't ring particularly true considering that much of the country is in the tropics, where summer means monsoons - not that I've ever seen the concept that WE HAVE A MONSOON SEASON taught at an Australian school.

Most Indigenous nations around Australia had six or more seasons, revolving around wet and dry times as much as hot and cold, and marked by the appearances of certain native animals and flowers. Schools need to start teaching the real seasons, and explaining that climate cycles are too complex to generalise globally, or else we will keep raising generations who view the natural world as hostile and unpredictable and climate predictions as generally irrelevent and frequently wrong - and I'm sure I don't need to spell out why that's a problem in the era of climate crisis.

i want to add that 40% of the world's population lives in the tropics, and the 4 season model just doesn't make much sense for a lot of places in there. usually it's just the wet season/monsoon season and the dry season. it's often hot year round.

the 4 season model as you and i know it is a european invention, though 4 season models aren't unique to europe! most notably china has the same type of season subdivision.

in general the way humans define seasons is largely subjective and varies across cultures. the one you were taught is not at all universal!
