HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 3.06 | Faceless Men
The fact that condal and hess have assassinated Alicent's character beyond repair... And for what??? Queerbaiting rha*nicent shippers over a ship they were clearly never going to make canon since day one? Giving Alicent more shit to do compared to the book? Have they never heard the phrase "sometimes less is more"??? Did they really think that have Alicent be sexually assaulted two episodes in a row and then give her the most nonsensical plot of having to teleport to Harrenhal to assassinate her own son (????), was somehow better than just... giving her less screentime?
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON | Season 3, Episode 6, "Faceless Men"

“I am someone else, and that someone else has fallen deeply and completely in love with Sybelle and Benjamin.” (The Vampire Armand)
Assad Zaman as Armand
IWTV - The Vampire Lestat 3.03 "Toronto"
There will be a day when majority of the fandom will look back and say:
"Huh..remember when we all hated that one brown dude who was bitter towards his ex who used him for sex in a show full of incestuous pedophiles, rapists and child murderers? That was pretty weird"
I feel the need to get this out because I was attacked so many times in posts and replies about the trial and Lestat and it really sucked.
Again, this isn’t me gloating, even though I kinda want to since I was called stupid and told I “watched the show with my eyes closed” so many times by certain Lestat fans who I’ve now blocked, but I can’t help but be entertained by the fact that the Rolin Jones Lestat’s Trial Intentions interview is causing so many meltdowns. I don’t like confirmations via interviews, but I didn’t need this interview to get to these conclusions because the proof is literally all in the show. I’ve been blocked, harassed, called names, and accused of having no media literacy because I… understood what the show was telling me? And here is what the gd show was telling me that I was called names for believing and voicing on here:
- Armand did not plan the trial himself & with his show characterization it doesn’t make any gd sense that he would and there is proof in the gd show
- Santiago was the mastermind behind it all and he had plenty of good reasons to have it out for Armand and it makes sense that the coven would rally behind him because Armand is a hypocrite and the proof is all in the show
- Lestat willingly participated in the gd trial and there is plenty of evidence that supports this choice via his show characterization in the show
- The coven dethroned Armand and even with his arm being twisted (which I’m not buying all the dialogue from the s3e7 torture scene since everything is fucking clouded by Lestat’s POV) he fucked up and made the choice to acquiesce and direct the show even though he might have been able to join forces with Lestat if he had pulled his head out of his own ass to kill them all BUT he’s a gd coward and there is evidence of all this in the show
- Lestat wasn’t forced into the trial because if he was and if Armand is truly so dangerous, why tf would show!Lestat let Louis go off with Armand it makes no fucking sense if he really feels like Louis isn’t safe with Armand. Believing be was forced into it makes the Loustat ship go down in flames because WHY would you let the love of your life go off with the “gremlin” if you really think it’s not safe OH MY GOD
- Lestat projects all his fucking shame onto Armand because it’s easier than facing everything he’s done. He was warned not to turn Nicki and did it anyway, and Armand had to clean up the mess for him. Lestat chose to join forces with Antoinette in response to Claudia’s murder plot against his own fledglings with the intention of killing Claudia to replace her with Antoinette it’s in the damn dialogue and he never contested this in the season! We have no reason to believe this is a lie.
- Lestat chose to participate in the trial but he likes to pretend he didn’t do anything while Louis, looking like a clown, puts all the blame on Armand when Claudia wasn’t even Armand’s daughter or fledgling or anything! She was Lestat’s daughter and he let her die! Armand didn’t owe Claudia anything. He saved his own ass and that fucking sucks for him to do but I can’t be mad at him for that because Louis wouldn’t fully commit to him AND I can’t blame Louis for that either! Armand warned Louis over and over about the coven and he told him when his trepidation re Lestat was brought up the first time that the coven doesn’t take well to being lied to oh my god
- Lestat’s reasons for wanting to hurt Claudia and Louis also make sense. They cut his throat. Left him in a dump. Claudia lied about the “worse than rape” threat to get Louis on her side. Even if he deserved it, of course he’s hurt because even though he wanted Claudia out of the way, he still loved her! They all have complicated feelings about each other. ALL OF THEM. They live forever how are they supposed to deal with this shit without massively betraying one another from time to time.
- Lestat saying “you have no idea of Claudia’s strength” during rehearsal doesn’t mean he didn’t want to hurt her for hurting him. She’s his fledgling, an extension of himself, of course he’s going to gloat about her. Also, to him the trial is fucking stupid and Armand’s cowardly ass wouldn’t help Lestat go against the coven if he begged because Armand is a survivor and this is the only way he knows how to protect himself. Lestat could have saved Claudia instead of Louis, but he didn’t, and the proof of everything is in the damn show
Okay. Maybe I do need to gloat a little because I can’t believe how many times I was attacked about all this. Honestly I feel that this all just makes Lestat more interesting and gives him great parallels to Armand.
Waking up to Fabian Frankel being based by calling out the hypocricy of Targ Stans in my feed
Daemon: *Kills an innocent goatherd and brings his incinerated and mangled body to Rhaenyra*
The Fandom: *I sleep*
Cole: Gives a speech about initiating guerilla warfare to prevent the rivermen from advancing.
The Fandom: *GRRRR CAN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO DIE!!!! SIR INCELOT!!*
Hating Cole is getting almost performative now.
Criston's story ending with him being shot before the battle even truly began, Alicent's favour wrapped around his sword hilt is so good. It's so good, guys!
The way Criston's coat and armour have been getting darker and darker was such a great piece of visual storytelling. That coat was white when he left King's Landing! And the only thing that was white and clean left to him in his moment of death being the hankerchief Alicent gave him - chef's kiss. His relationship to her being the only thing that still ties him to some chivalric ideals.
There's no honour here, no knightly fight to the end, nothing to sing songs about. You prepared yourself for a last glorious fight to the end - a battle they will sing songs about that even Queen Alicent may hear - but instead you get shot by Aly "no personality" Blackwood and die in the dirt. Nothing but a feast for crows.
Currently thinking abt alicent still imprisoned years after the dance ended, in fact, hearing songs about criston cole, his bravery and his death, knowing she never got to properly say goodbye to her lover, the man that was always by her side and who s last thoughts were still her...
Well, if anything, I will give HOTD that the way they played Criston's death, he comes off far more admirable and honorable (willing to surrender/die in an attempt to save his men, just the entire way he conducted himself) than the people who assassinated him when he was already basically defeated and they had all the cards.
