I’ve been thinking about the beagles at Ridglan Farm and Wayne Hsiung who organized the rescue operations. Thanks to their efforts the dog breeding/testing facility is now closed! Dog breeders still exist in the US however and so does the testing on beagles. This testing is done for toxicity, medical but also, for all sorts of every day products… Humans use beagles for their docile and forgiving nature which just makes it more depressing. I cannot shake this feeling of injustice on how we treat other animals simply because we can. I don’t see any reason this torture must go on for these beings that have just as much right to comfort, choice and to just simply exist on this planet as we do. If anything they probably have more of a right since they’re not the ones trashing the place!
PS: my first GN (The Lab) was totally inspired by the pain of animal testing or of being treated as an it, and not someone.
So i’ve been on this train for awhile 🤣
