i'm still a leftist but in my experience women are viewed as expendable in leftist spaces, spoken over, treated as stupid, on a level that is astounding. you can get away with an enormous level of vitriolic hatred for women if you couch it in the right terms

There really is no better example of the racism of low expectations when certain far leftists criticise condemnation of the fucking Taliban as “peak white liberal feminism.” Women and girls in Afghanistan are being systematically removed from public life, denied the right to education, freedom of movement, of dress, even the right to speak in public or to each other. Animals have more rights than women under the Taliban.

And then you have these arseholes saying it’s imposing Western cultural mores on non Western societies to care about the welfare of these women, as if Afghan men couldn’t possibly be expected to know how to treat women like fucking human beings and they have the audacity to hold themselves up as “anti racist.” You’ve clearly shown what an incredibly low opinion you actually have of non white and non Western cultures if you think the situation in Afghanistan is remotely normal or indicative.

It’s absolutely putrid.

its amazing how johns have rendered themselves practically invisible in the discussion of sex workers. like every justification for a sex work industry has everything to do with whether women have the right to make a living and not whether men have the right to purchase sex. the women are the actors here but men are just the force of nature. this applies to a lot of dynamics but it feels so evil when it comes to the sex industry.

World so male-centered that we came up with a term as utterly useless as "dad bod", when men's participation to procreation is just an orgasm, and older men are usually fat from beer and not from caring for their kids — women's still doing the lion share of childcare—; meanwhile women's bodies during pregnancy are still looked down upon: men cheat or even kill you when you’re pregnant, there's a pressure to go back to being skinny post birth, let's not even mention if you have scars or other permanent marks, you’re deemed ugly forever. i'm tired of this weird dichotomy in people's worldview - you're either an absolutely inclusive individual, uncritically absorbing every rule and information that's currently *in*, or you're a seething conservative, unable to think and feel, basically a second mengele in modern clothes, if you voice even the slightest concern with what's happening culturally and socially

it's like there's no in-between, any kind of discussion is pointless when you get blind aggression and slurs in response. this cultish hivemind-esque model of receiving and instantly rejecting information can't be healthy or even natural for us - thinking, curious and info-processing creatures
