Might just be the Voices talkin but I think I'm three steps away from plummeting backwards offa cliff back to being a hardcore (specifically pre-Disney ONLY) Star Wars fanatic once again.
I was but a young one when strict parents driven by a religious cult persuaded me to prematurely get rid of my entire beloved collection of Star Wars collectibles and items.
I had ALL the cool gadgets and even a massive 3D Imperial Star Destroyer foam puzzle. I had miniature models of various vehicles and ships that I assembled and painted. I had posters and drawings littering my bedroom walls. I had books galore of essential guides, comics, extended universe, character manuals/journals, and even a pocket guide to Star Wars cultures and languages. I had a full on Anakin Skywalker costume and definitely walked around with a Padawan braid for several years. I would read the wookipedia pages and copy everything down by hand in my spare time. Hell, I learned how to read and write in Aurebesh, and was working on learning both Huttese and Mando'a.
I'm in the process now of saving up to repurchase the parts to rebuild the custom lightsaber (which I adored as a kid and still bitterly regret selling for pennies along with the rest of my collection). This time it will not JUST be a light-up only stunt saber--I am saving up to add a fully integrated soundboard and effects as well as a charging port.
Already placed the order for the full collection of episodes 1-6 of Star Wars DVDs.
(If I ever were to become a billionaire my immediate goal would be to strong arm Disney into selling the rights to Star Wars to me so I can gather the original architects of the films along with the Keeper of the Holocron, actors, and true fans to bring back the fandom into greatness. Disney slaughtered every bit of soul from the franchise and turned it into a money-grinding machine. I would get authors from the Extended Universe books to help rebuild the foundations of what was stolen from them and give their stories a chance to be in theaters. I do believe George Lucas regrets his decision to sell Star Wars, but he might not have had much choice.)
This is a second chance for me to reconnect with a fandom I once adored with my entire soul. Before I was forced to give up Star Wars my heart was free to dream and to have aspirations of a better life. Afterwards, I dunno but it felt like nothing else I cared about would ever be safe--So why should I care about anything? Nothing, and I mean nothing, was ever loved as much as I loved Star Wars.
I will not be able to get everything I once owned back--That would cost way too much money and would be rather hard to do since a lot of things were limited edition collector's items--But what I can do is replace the core items that meant the most to give up. My lightsaber for one. I will improve it and rebuild it anew. This will be my new hope.
My old custom built SaberForge lightsaber is pictured above in the grainy ass pictures taken on my ancient tablet. These pictures are the only thing I have to remember it by. It was such a thing of beauty. I regret selling it to the collector who talked me into practically giving my collection away. Bro must've been a Jedi (or from Tatooine) with those negotiations (mind tricks). Came all the way from California (basically Tatooine), so he said. I just hope wherever my saber is now, it's in good hands.
