Whenever they gave us one of those "read through ALL the instructions before you begin!" trick assignments in school where the steps lead you on an increasingly ridiculous goose chase until the final one tells you to just put your name on the paper and turn it in without doing anything else, I was always like, "Okay, but what's the point? And then I grew up and discovered that not only is the real world often exactly like that, some people won't even read the first line of the instructions even if they make perfect sense. From what I remember of back when Millennials were outpacing Boomers at internet and tech stuff in general, this is going to cause a lot of issues for companies angling to use slop in marketing because the younger set are always going to be better at spotting it than the older, but the older are going to be the ones approving marketing campaigns and ads and etc. Meaning, the older people will not ever be able to tell what might actually convince the younger.

The good news is that if it persists and Gen Z and Gen Alpha continue to scoff at the generated stuff, then marketing departments aiming at them will just have to give up on using it because they won't be able to figure out how to fool their targets with it.

The bad news is that this won't apply to scams and campaigns aimed at older people, so once again we're going to have a situation where the kids will be the ones lunging across the coffee table to stop Mom from giving her financial info to that really obvious fake scam mom oh my god do NOT buy that it isn't even a real thing.

okay see i don't want to be a dick because i'm not saying you're entirely wrong- showing abusive relationships and clarifying that they're abusive in media does help people recognize abuse in real life. it's probably a really good thing to include in media aimed at kids or 'family viewing'. but that's not what my post is about and it's not the only reason to write abusive fucked up relationships, and acting like it is flattens stories in a way that is ultimately really bad. and you're completely misinterpreting my post if you think the point of it was sometimes we should include Bad Relationships so Kids At Home Will Know Its Bad.

my point was that sometimes it is interesting to read about or write about really weird unhealthy relationships. not educational.

I don't think an author should have to preface their gothic horror with "and of course, fucking a guy whos secretly your cousin and maybe killed your mom is bad and i disavow". i don't think every fanfic that decides to make the love interest a rapist should end with "and he goes to jail, because that was a Bad Thing to Do, and the victim of his behavior went to therapy and got help dealing with the ramifications".

It's fictional. It's not real. It's not a PSA. sometimes the point is to deconstruct the viewpoint of a rapist who doesn't know they're a rapist. sometimes it's exploring how codependent two characters can get if you put them in a jigsaw trap and tie their legs together. sometimes the point is the author thinks it's sexy to imagine getting fucked at knifepoint. sometimes its literally just this:

some progress screenshots I took of the coloring process (the sunflowers were very blarghgblargh in the bg until I sat down to lock in and blahblargh)

post-editing, I kept scrolling through different layer settings (gradient map grayscale -> darken) and saw this one and was like, wow so grungy... but vibrant color was the main point so I scrapped this version lolol.

nevertheless, fun!! I feel like I finally figured out how to use the RGB slider--- I changed it to CMYK, bc it adds luminosity (with the K). I had a lot of fun picking colors by sliding the scales in relative to the main color!

Color is all about how they look relative to each other...

here's uh... an attempt at an explanation. I have the main color dropped as beige, and within the slider I can choose colors from CMY (K can toggle shade, but let's not deal with that rn)

I chose magenta from M; as I slide the M arrow along the bar, the other colors change.

I want smth that vaguely looks like brown hair, so I went for orange from Y.

adding complimentary colors can give that sort of... contrast, so I plopped some green from C.

eyedrop tool is your friend, so referencing your own colors and using the sliders to find other colors... until your eyeballs look at it and say, Mhm, yes this is pleasing to my eyeballs.

anyways... fun things! ^v^9 sorry I'm no goodie at explaining, I'm still figuring this all out too lolol.
