Ignorant/oblivious writers plus a clearly racist character woobified by a fandom hoping for his redemption make the chance that he’ll actual get one based on the patterns we’ve already seen in recent media highly likely😤 I’ll say it a million times over, THIS is why you need black and brown voices behind the scenes. it is not enough to have onscreen representation when the people who are crafting these stories are not doing enough to develop nuanced portayals for their characters of color while also setting up harmful storylines that they may never fully acknowledge or rectify simply because they didn’t seem them as such!

Im pretty indifferent about this relationship. I do think they’re cute together and they obviously care a lot about each other. Some aspects of their relationship are pretty unrealistic, like Sarah saying she would rather die than be without John B. was a bit much, but at the end of the day there isn’t anything inherently wrong with this ship.

Okay. Some people could argue that I’m biased, but here’s my honest opinion: it’s really boring. There was almost no chemistry between these two characters. The hug before Pope confessed his feelings had a little chemistry, but the kiss didn’t in my opinion. I felt like the kiss really just came out of no where. Honestly it felt very one-sided and I just can’t imagine them dating. Plus the whole thing with Pope making Kiara feel bad for rejecting him really rubbed me the wrong way.

Also kinda indifferent about this ship. I think Pope and JJ make a really good team and the scenes they have together are always super funny and they have really good chemistry. But at the end of the day I just don’t really see their relationship as romantic? Like I hate to be that person that’s like “they aren’t gay their just good friends” but I just prefer them as friends over lovers.

I really enjoy this ship. It’s part of why I made this blog in the first place. I always go for the ships that no one expects or that have potential but aren’t together yet. And I know it’s been said that Jiara wasn’t planned for the show but they had so many scenes together. The hot tub scene, the way JJ looks when he sees Kiara with someone else, “Did you tell JJ?”, so much of midsummers, etc. I feel like they might actually go with this ship after the uproar from fans and I think it could be a really good slow burn but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I also really love this ship. When Sarah told Kiara that the reason she stopped being friends with her was because “you liked me” I thought for a split second that Kiara might’ve had a crush on her. Of course that ended up not being the case but it would’ve been a cool plot twist if that had been the case. Plus I’m just a sucker for any sapphic ship that I can find, lmao. Also side note Kie gives me strong bi/pan vibes.

This doesn’t necessarily apply to just outer banks it really applies to any show but i saw a post about one of the obx actors and I feel the need to say this: stop trying to force sexualities on celebrities. stop harassing them and demanding to know their sexuality. stop theorizing about their sexuality and convincing yourself that they’re “secretly gay” or some shit.

It’s perfectly fine to question a characters sexuality. I even do that myself sometimes. But there is a line that shouldn’t be passed.

I feel like so often people blur the lines between character or real person. And I just find it so weird. I constantly headcanon characters as gay/bi/pan but I never convince myself that a celebrity, a real human being, is secretly gay and is hiding it.

And even if that were the case, they would definitely hate being harassed about their sexuality on the daily. If I wasn’t out online and people were constantly doing that I would be incredibly annoyed.

At the end of the day if someone wants you to know something about them, they’ll tell you. Stop harassing them for answers. And if they do come out as a certain sexuality/gender identity, show them support instead of saying stuff like “I KNEW IT” because that just makes it even worse.

I didn’t mean to type this much lmao but I just really needed to rant about this.
