(We do have evidence of futon-like beds in Star Wars canon, but the JA books always mention “sleep couches” which sounds a lot like a fainting chaise to me, and then there are obviously the cots and bunks we see in various shows. Futons seem the coziest and most on-brand in terms of Japanese inspired things, and they’re already on the floor which is where meditation takes place so… yeah *kronk voice* it’s all coming together.)

making luke skywalker a disillusioned old man who turned his back on the galaxy and worst of all his friends was such a bad take bc yes it could be happen. put that much trauma / burden / loss on a person and realistically they’ll lose their spark. want to run away and give up. but star wars is a story of HOPE. it’s characters are larger than life. luke skywalker’s biggest superpower wasn’t his ability to use the force, it was his heart. he turned away from the jedi code for his friends. he brought his father back to the light with his love. the odds are never in the hero’s favor. they shouldn’t be able to win. the bad guy is stronger, the weight of responsibility is crushing, but the good guy prevails nevertheless. it’s not a character type that is supposed to be edgy or unpredictable or gritty. it’s meant to be a little cheesy and optimistic and hopeful. even when it seems impossible for them to be strong enough, they are. and they took that from us

this is genuinely so funny to me because in spite of what the antis like to claim, i am aware obikin is not in fact a canon ship (as if that has ever mattered when it comes to shipping lol are you guys brand new to the concept of fandom????). but it is really interesting because i feel like obikin exists as a nebulous third thing where it’s not entirely a fanon ship either.
