Archive.org is facing a lawsuit
tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above,without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.

On twitter,tumblr,facebook,heck,anywhere you want,this needs to be talked about !
they’re being sued due to putting together an “emergency library”, essentially, in the wake of schools and libraries closing due to covid-19.
you can read about it in a few places. here’s one article on the subject, but there’s plenty to be found.
When your lady on her period.
this got funnier as it went
“Don’t call her a bitch but
GET YOUR BITCH SOME CHOCOLATE”
Facts 😂
There needs to be some sort of induction ceremony
This is the only comedy sketch that doesn’t make fun of women and their period. It try’s to make you relies how weird and annoying periods really are. That’s really refreshing
why is it not more wellknown that women can have an actual literal disorder that not rarely makes them literally suicidal for up to 10 days every month before their period lmao like… teach this in class? it’s not a joke?
Wait what??
here here here (there’s more sites saying the same thing)
it’s called PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and it’s basically PMS but make it Super Hardcore, it’s a hormonal disorder and to my knowledge they’re not exactly sure what causes it - there’s theories tho - but there seems to be little research on it anyway. As I said it’s similar to PMS in terms of symptoms [mood swings, lethargy, cramps, changed sleeping pattern, libido, appetite] but the symptoms get so severe that they are interfering with your daily life and impacting it negatively. Especially in terms of psychological symptoms, while it doesn’t go that far for everyone who has it and also not every month, a lot of the people who experience it are sent into a severe depressive episode beause of it and it’s really not rare at all for them to experience legitimate suicidal thoughts that go away the second they get their period (or up to two days in from what I’ve read).
I’ve read different claims on how many people it affects, some sources say 5%, others 8%, others say 2% so I don’t know about that, but menstruating people need to know this lmao. Not knowing that your suicidality is caused by a literal physical disorder that you have can be so dangerous, especially when you already struggle with such issues anyway or are trying to recover from mental illness and don’t realize that your “relapses” are symptoms of an actual disorder.
also I originally said women but of course this applies to menstruating trans men and nb folks too.
I’ll reblog this every time I see it because YUP
the amount of times me or friends are having a Seriously Bad Time and then a few days later be like “oh, i just got my period, everything makes sense now” and like, let out this huge sigh of releif because it means you’re not relapsing and it will go away soon…
Forever grateful that I just get the pre cramps.
I have PMDD. I’m on a three month pack of birth control pills to help. Because of the pills I get my period once every three months, instead of every month. It really helps me feel normal.
I don't know who needs to hear this but you CAN and SHOULD terminate a doctor patient relationship at any time if you are dissatisfied with their service or uncomfortable in anyway.
I stopped seeing an allergist who said "Get rid of the cats and put that dog outside" as response to a description of my allergies, without ever giving me an allergy test.
(My next allergist actually did his due diligence and discovered that half the reason I couldn't breathe was because I had allergic scar tissue in my sinuses).
I stopped seeing a gastroenterologist when he didn't make an effort to learn my name, familiarize himself with the treatments I had tried that did not work, or read the list of known medicine allergies attached to my chart.
(He asked me when my last colonoscopy was LESS THAN 48HRS AFTER HE PERFORMED IT and re-prescribed me a medication that had hospitalized me)
I stopped seeing a certain psychologist because, despite my complaints about the damage that it was doing to my stomach lining, he wasn't willing to switch my meds in favor of something less destructive.
(My next psychiatrist agreed to see me WEEKLY while she weaned me off the meds he had put me on, and spent months checking in with me and tweaking my medications until we found a medication that helped my depression sufficiently without killing my stomach.)
Don't pay to see doctors who refuse to run tests!
Don't pay to see doctors whose bedside manner makes you uncomfortable.
Don't pay to see doctors who ignore your complaints about medications.
Don't pay to see bad doctors!
re: your tags, yes bad doctors are dangerous. as a healthcare professional, i think you should absolutely be able to pick the physician you see, hopefully someone who listens to you and is able to evaluate your needs and doesn’t ignore what you say.
as someone on their way to becoming a primary health provider, i second this post 100%.
don’t pay to see bad doctors. pay to see someone who will listen to you and address your needs.
and that xenophobia is real
AND THAT XENOPHOBIA IS REAL
This campaign defies censorship in social media to raise awareness for early detection of breast cancer
this is actually super fucking smartass of them
Reblogging as this is so important everyone! My mum had breast cancer and that shit is not nice so please check yourself ladies and gents! 💕💕💕
Freshman year of college I was in a philosophy class and I was giving some sort of group presentation. The prof asked my group “what do you think is your purpose in life?” And none of them really had an answer while I just said “to make the world a better place for those who come after us” because in my mind that’s just the obvious answer. The prof looked kind of taken aback that I just had an answer on the ready and was like “Why? What’s your motivation?”
In that moment I realized I was in front of a lecture hall of privileged students. I was surrounded by people who didn’t know poverty or desperation like I had. I clawed my way here on scholarships while they were legacy kids or trust fund babies. In that moment it clicked in my head that there’s this level of empathy that you can only gain when you have absolutely nothing to lose. A level of empathy that only the impoverished have. A level of empathy that screams out that you have to fight to make things better even if it doesn’t benefit you. It’s a concept that you can only really grasp when you have nothing to lose and the kids before me hadn’t known that pain. They hadn’t developed that kind of empathy.
My only answer that I could give the prof was “Why wouldn’t I?”
When writing couples, I like to use the Kiss Rule:
If they have to kiss for you to know they’re in love, you’re not writing a romance right.
I couldn’t agree more with this. As someone who has been married for 7 years (together for 9), kissing hardly proves anything of love, at least on its own. The starry-eyed lover type of intimacy is cute, but using it exclusively is like eating fondant off a cake. It’s sweet, looks polished and pretty, but lacks robust the flavour of combined elements — fillings, frosting, toppings, and the cake itself.
It’s gestures often overlooked, silent acts of respect without calling attention to them. Subtleties mixed with the obvious.
The good, bad, and the ugly.
playful banter, ribbing, insults/backhanded compliments
recognising ticks/tells and how to respond (e.g. specific throat clear before they speak)
tolerating inconsequential bad habits (e.g. puts dishes beside dishwasher, not in it)
listening to the same stories multiple times as if they were new
developing similar quirks (e.g. particular laugh)
inside jokes
mock fighting, mini competitions
blatant honesty, humble apologies, knowing when to drop an argument
saying nothing/talking for hours
tending to illness or injuries
pokes, pet/pats, head/shoulder bumps, bites, tickles, cuddling, long gazes, stroking hair
grooming, restraighten clothing, touch up hair, brush off crumbs
singing and dancing together
understanding your partner’s hurt rather than just apologising
trust and respect
knowing how to cheer the other up, how to piss them off, humour them
reassurance (e.g. I’m here to talk, you’re doing a great job, your insecurities don’t define you)
associating sights, smells, touches, songs, phrasing, etc with them (e.g. “I saw a pigeon today and thought ‘is this my partner?’”
hating dumb things they do, but finding them hard to live without and secretly loving them
compromising, sacrificing, reciprocation
Love is unspoken, tolerant, and a spectrum of emotions.
It’s accepting that you’ll fuckin’ hate their entire being at times, exclaim with vitriol, “god, you’re so fucking annoying” while you smile and know that it’s trivial in the grand scheme.
It’s real. It’s healthy. It’s fun. That’s what I try to encapsulate in my sappy romantic fiction because realistic fluff is so much more gratifying.
I hope this helps.
those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them
every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch
ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promise
if u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault - our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine
no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic
no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine
sometimes u just gotta get over urself
this made me cry I needed it so bad
Bro, it's like 4PM in São Paulo right now and all the smoke made it look like it's already night...city of ashes indeed.
That's POLLUTION for you guys. It's what you get when people burn the Amazon rainforest to make farms.
Ok so, the cloud of smoke over the city is from the burning of Amazon rainforest in Rondonia. Sao Paulo is 3300km (2052 miles) distant from Porto Velho. Athens is closer to London than Sao Paulo is to Porto Velho. Just to give you an idea of the damage they are doing to the forest right now, with the permission from the human trash president. Just so you guys from other countries have an idea of what's happening here in Brazil.
If you can reblog this to make people aware of the situation, I'll be really glad.
Look they've been burning the forest it's been 15 days now and people have died already in the fires. So the least I hope that the media will actually pay attention to Rondônia and the forest now that's affect São Paulo. The media here in Brazil is trying to take the attention away from the fires saying that what covered SP today as fog because of a cold wave, but many people already said: it's not fog, it's smoke. And if you're shocked about São Paulo sky, this is Rondônia where they are burning the forest:
So yeah, they are destroying the biggest ecosystem that is the Amazon right now. And the world must know.
Because if we depend on the media, the death of the Amazon won't be televised.
“SCHOOL. This is the prison for the innocent. This is fresh-faced 5-year-olds being abandoned by their parents. This is 12 years of your life you can never get back. This is the kid having a panic attack in the toilets. This is being the kid having a panic attack in the toilets. This is the teachers ignoring the bullies. This is the teachers BEING the bullies. This is popping pills because grades are more important than mental health. This is waking up every weekday morning wishing you never did. This is back pain from overstuffed backpacks and headaches from stress and tired eyes from lack of rest and the sigh of relief when the bell rings until it all starts again the next day. This is being taught how to multiply x and y but not being taught how to do our taxes. This is being told about Henry VIII’s wives but not being told about the environmental destruction threatening our lives. This is being educated about safe sex but not about consent. This is the sexist dress codes. This is being force-fed information no longer relevant to the world we live in and this is being treated like a child but expected to act like adults when it’s convenient. This is older people saying ‘kids our age’ are lazy and rebellious and unambitious when what we really are is DESPERATE. Desperate to survive, desperate to escape. This is us; the generation who has had to learn how to survive by the skin of our teeth and yes this is a poem but it is not poetic, it is fucking devastating.”

remember being little and thinking dandelions were fun or a pretty color or something and every adult in an 80 mile radius wouldn’t let you say that without screaming ITS A WEED
also like:
dandelions are edible, easy to grow, and are rich in vitamins a, c, k, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, manganese, and potassium
dandelions can be made into wine, tea, soft drinks, and a coffee substitute
they are used in herbal remedies to treat liver and digestive problems and as a diuretic
they’re good for bees!
they make good companion plants for various herbs and tomatoes; their long taproot helps bring up nutrients in the soil and they release ethylene gas which ripens fruit
dandelions secrete latex which means they can be used to make natural rubber
they make great flower crowns
Why ARE they considered a weed? They’re a good flower? Who decided they were bad? =(
lawn culture made the decision to consider dandelions weeds
We all know what erectile dysfunction is but literally no one is ever taught what vaginismus is and it can cause people to feel extremely lost, broken, and cause people to take their own lives. Raise. Awareness.
For the uninformed, vaginismus is when the vagina painfully tightens and spasms when faced with pressure, usually from anything trying to insert into the vagina. It’s the reason I can’t wear tampons, and why many people can’t have vaginal sex without severe pain.
There’s not a lot of treatments, and there isn’t a single one that is for vaginismus exclusively - they’re all medications or treatments to treat symptoms, but not the causes. In fact, for a long time doctors waved off vaginismus as a purely psychological disorder in cis women.
Seriously, this is so unaddressed and uncared for in medical circles. Please spread awareness, even if all it’s for is to let those who have it but don’t have a name for it finally be able to understand what’s happening to their bodies.
I’ve never even heard of this??
Me neither. :(
Thank you for sharing bc I think I might actually have this but I thought it was just me. I can barely handle so much as a tampon. Will have to bring this up at my next doctor’s appointment.
So, there is a website dedicated to vaginismus which I suffered from for years and had no idea how to talk about it. I found this website ten or twelve years ago and bought some of their products which helped immensely. I know nothing about the medications, but the dilator set is probably the best you can do because it is a way to help widen the vagina on your own terms. I still have mine even though I haven’t needed it for years because it could come back later.
One thing I appreciated about this website is that it emphasized that this is not your fault. Another thing I learned was that one cause could just be, you know, being part of a culture that gives women extreme anxiety about sex. This resource helped me when I was a lot younger and terrified that I was broken.
Anyways, here’s the website. Please share it with everyone you know: x
Brent Weeks included a character with vaginismus in his fantasy series, The Black Prism. It’s plot relevant (she needs to consummate a political marriage–to a husband she sincerely loves, no less), and she’s treated as a well-rounded character who it’s just one aspect of, and Weeks included an author’s note that was like “btw, this is a real thing. Here are resources on the topic. You’re not broken and you can get help.”
Which, like, from a male author? That’s pretty neat.
Vaginismus is psychosomatic and often is caused by anxiety. It’s also very real and quite painful.
It can be caused by sexual assault, but it can also be caused by just plain lousy sex. In some cases there’s no apparent cause.
It can occur during sex and/or during pelvic exams. Some people (hi!) experience it only during pelvic exams or pap smears. (Mine was caused by an incompetent medical professional who didn’t pay attention and used a speculum that was too large). And, as mentioned, some sufferers can’t insert tampons. I’d imagine it’s not impossible for somebody to be fine with sex but have problems with tampon insertion. I’ve also heard of people being fine with a penis but not with toys and vice versa. (Lube, people. Lube).
Vaginismus is a major cause of dyspareunia (painful intercourse), but there are other causes, which can include:
* Not producing enough natural lubrication. This can be a result of insufficient/bad foreplay, but some people never produce enough and levels of lubrication can drop during and after menopause, after childbirth, and while nursing. It can also be a side effect of medication. Lube exists, and some people have to use it. Vagina owners should always use water-based lubes.
* Injury down there, often as a result of childbirth complications.
* Yeast or bacterial infection.
* Ezcema
* A deformed vagina (this is rare, but it does happen. It’s generally connected to a chromosomal abnormality or a condition such as AIS)
* Scarring from pelvic surgery.
* Stress.
* Ovarian cysts
* Pelvic inflammatory disease.
* Ectopic pregnancy
* Some STDs, such as genital warts
* Vulvodynia - pain in the clitoris, labia and vaginal opening. This one’s even worse…we do NOT know what causes it.
* Latex allergy if using condoms. If using lube causes more pain, you may be allergic to the lube.
* Cystitis
* Uterine problems such as fibroids or endometriosis
* Cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix)
Many of these can be treated or worked around. Sex is not supposed to hurt. And if it does, you and your partner need to address why. Many doctors actually recommend sex therapy as a couple if you have vaginismus. If you have an infection down there, it can be treated. If your vagina is too dry, you can use supplemental lube. But you need to talk to your doctor if at all possible.
Again.
It’s not supposed to hurt.
No, not even the first time.
Always reblog.
Vaginismus isnt always psychosomatic it can also be caused by conditions such as vulvar vestibulitis from a hypertense pelvic floor- which is either caused by over active pain receptors or can cause them to become hyperactive. It certainly can also be caused by psychological trauma such as rape but just like erectile dysfunction it can also be biological in origin
I am absolutely furious,, what the fuck are people thinking??? She’s seven (7). They better square tf up because I’m about to drop kick them all
To explain for people wondering- the reason she’s being harrassed is because when she was out with her family at the mall she didn’t stop to give an autograph and take a picture with an (assumably adult) fan who then went off on her parents for not “teaching your girl [Lexi] how to act in public”.
She is 7 years old, and she doesn’t owe anyone her time, especially when she’s just trying to enjoy a day off with her family. I don’t care if you’re a fan, famous people don’t owe you anything.
Especially not children
the fuck kinda weirdo wants a 7 year old’s autograph anyway
