How much are we betting that Ten(too)’s last words in the 60th are going to be “I don’t want to go.”?
Okay so… here’s the thing about the possibly new companion being named Rose.
I’m not here for it.
I’m sure she’ll be great and I’m excited to see what she brings to the table. However, I’ve seen and heard the rumours of her potentially being named after Rose Tyler for various reasons and I don’t like it.
I loved Rose Tyler and it’s so nice when she, as well as other beloved companions, is mentioned in the show. I love that they’re not forgotten and sometimes we get updates on them and where they are in their lives after the doctor BUT
If the rumours are true, the new Rose has already had her identity stripped from her even before she’s had a chance to show us who she is. Her story will be Rose, named after…, the girl who lives in the shadow of…, the girl who only sparks the interest of the doctor because she’s named after a woman he loved… etc.
There are plenty of names out there, give her one of her own! Let her be her own person. Let her have a story that isn’t off the back of another character. We love Rose Tyler, we do, but we don’t need a Rose 2.0.

Okay I'll admit I don't really want the BBC to just revert the Doctor back to being another white guy.
But, hear me out:
He's young, he's British, he's kind of known but not massively A-list famous, and he's an absolutely terrific actor that could really nail both the light-hearted comedic side of the Doctor and the really ancient weary old soul aspect of them as well.
TBS as the 14th doctor? Sign me all the way up!
We already know he can do sci-fi/dystopian/fantasy well because of the maze runner and game of thrones. Sure, he was already in the 2 part doctor who episodes (human nature & the family of blood), but so was capaldi before his reign and I think that just further proves that he’d be a great fit for the role.
They could run a similar storyline as they did for repeating capaldi’s face or have it be something along the lines of picking a face from the past at random. As 10 said, “regeneration… it’s a lottery!”
I think it would be great to have the doctor look so young, it would be such an interesting contrast to their age. When matt smith became 11, a lot of people were concerned that how young he looked would take us out of the illusion of how the doctor should look due to the role being played by much older looking actors beforehand and he proved them all wrong. We’ve had very old looking, why not have very young looking?
After all, hasn’t the lesson doctor who has taught us for the longest time been to not judge by appearances? To trust the doctor, no matter how they look?
Plus… after the big transition between 12 and 13, if they decided to make the doctor a man again, this could be a softer transition back to that. A young, gentle looking blonde man instead of jumping back to a tall, rugged and more intimidating rough-around-the-edges looking man.
AND (I’ll stop rambling soon I promise) think of the jokes we’d get! 13 had ‘never had this when I was a man’ and ‘I’ve had an upgrade…HI!’. We’d be getting lines like ‘the doctor is a… child?’ And ‘move out of the way little one, I’m looking for the doctor’ and then having him be all flustered in an adorable display of frustration!
