Dragon Age: Absolution + In-Game Spells
Ma lath,
I miss you, I want you, Iām going mad without you. For all the ills of this world, of which there are many, you remain a constant star to remind me that not all is lost.Ā
Enclosed is a flower that fills the hedgerows and forests here in the Marches. I hope it arrives safely. I never see them grow so abundantly in the south, and I wish you were here in person so I could tuck the blooms into your armour like I usually do.
I remain the faithful heart of your beloved, ma sal shiral. Ever yours. Ever mine. Ever ours.
Your Tomlen
āKeep descriptions short and donāt use poetic/flowery language in a novelā āif a scene doesnāt advance the plot cut itā āavoid complicated symbolism and hinting at things, just say what you meanā ātoo much worldbuilding is distractingā bites you bites you bites you bites you bites y
I literally cannot do this. It just doesn't sit right with my writing style and gets all mechanical and weird and stilted if I don't. Would love to use one word instead of five sometimes but it ain't gonna happen. Maybe that's what turns people off my fics š¤š
When I was younger, and Trad publishing was the only option, I forced myself to cut back on my descriptions and flowery language so much that I stopped writing for a while.
Until I discovered fanfiction and found I could do what I wanted.
Then with the emergence of self-publishing, and knowing that there's an audience for anything, and the there's not word-count gatekeeping in the Indie world, I knew I could write my stories how they were meant to be told.
Turns out, when you train yourself not to write overly descriptive language, it's FUCKING HARD to start doing it again!
I've recently (beginning of the month) had to go back to the beginning of my current project and expand my descriptions to include more details because it was dry as bloody cardboard.
Please, if you're a flowery/poetic writer, don't force yourself into a box! Write what makes you happy! I *promise* that there's an audience for it out there somewhere <3
Me for starters!
Also; Cutting scenes that don't advance the plot. While I don't support scenes that don't do their fair share of heavy lifting, sometimes a scene is worldbuilding, or character development. Those are just as important as plot progression!!
Complicated symbolism, and hints? You can pry THAT from my cold, dead hands.
I'm flowery as fuck š
Also, just because casual, snippy writing styles are currently popular, I promise you people are still reading, enjoying and discovering classics and older works that do not adhere to these trends.
To all the new followers brought here from the āmy pilot was goodā scifi short: welcome! Grab your favorite beverage from the fridge, your preferred snack from the pantry, and have a seat. A blog cat has been dispatched to make biscuits on your lap and will arrive shortly.
To my followers who have been around for a while: I am refilling your beverages and giving you fresh snacks as we speak. Your favorite blog cat is purring for you.
Here are all of my experimental-pov scifi shorts:
you are so tired and far from home You are on a space station thatās under attack, and have one chance to change things.
we donāt have to watch the sky The narrator cares for a pilot that has crash-landed on a remote planet.
my pilot was good A starship AI stands trial for the actions committed by their deceased pilot.
And here isĀ the trouble is you are a monster, my adaptation of Theseus and the Minotaur from the Minotaurās perspective.
I have more (as of yet unannounced) projects in the works as well.
Quick note that my blog theme is still very much under construction, so mind the uncoded gaps.
Stay tuned - and stay safe!
Sketch for @melody-loka, thank you!Ā ā¤
My friendās little brother (non-verbal) used to hide peopleās shoes if he liked the person, because it meant they had to stay longer. The more difficult it was to find your shoes, the more he liked you.
One day my cousin came over, and she was a bitch. When it was time to leave, my friendās brother handed her shoes directly to her and she went on and on about how he must have a crush on her because he only āhelpedā her.
