@american-adventurers-guild
Akatsuki from Log Horizon
Notable update to the Thirteen Global Chivalric Orders wiki page: Added the names of the remaining Orders as mentioned in volume 11. I tried getting their JP names to see if it would hint to which Order belongs to which server, but unfortunately the corresponding section in the web novel didn’t have that part.
Confirmed ones:
Knights of Izumo - Japanese server
Knights of the Red Branch - Scandinavian server
Fei Cui Knights (previously TL’d as Jade Knight Order) - Chinese server
Wen Keepers - North American server
My current guesses:
Knights of Habaek - Korean server
Obsidian Knights - South and Central American server
Knights of the Sacred Cow - Indian server
Knights of the Seven Seas - Oceanic server? (Though now looking at it, it may be for the Western European or Middle Eastern server instead; “seven seas” is used by a lot of different cultures)
Zilant Knights - Russian server
Ones that I really can’t tell based on the name:
Blood-Sand Knights (probably either African or Middle Eastern server)
Knights of Shinha (SEA server?)
Shapeless Knights (either Africa or Middle East through process of elimination)
Winged Dragon Magic Brigade (possibly Western European server if KotSS is for something else)

It’s Log Horizon: Collapse of the Round Table, which suggests it may cover the events of Volume 12, not sure about the other volumes though.
I'm super excited!
i’m not sure where the hints about adventurers having kids are, but the very idea leads to wild mass guessing. for example, would the kid be an adventurer, like their parent(s), or would they be considered an lander by the system? what would be the reactions to that and how would they be treated? what would earth fit into their upbringing and education? honestly, it’s a topic that’s super interesting.
D: I’m so sorry about taking so long to answer this, thank you for your patience! I vaguely remembered @loghorizonfunfacts posting about it from an interview and so I spent a few hours searching but couldn’t find it. Cue me running into the actual transcript from one of Mamare-san’s 4chan interviews weeks later! [You can find these on the wiki under the author’s name.]
“>>Q: Are the NPCs and Adventurers able to have children together?>>Q: Can Adventurers have kids? And would they be adventurers? They’ll probably be able to do so. Even if it’s just a few people, this might eventually happen. However, this is for the story to answer, so I’ll leave it here.”
1) Would the kid be an adventurer? I think that if the newbies end up aging [which we haven’t seen yet] then the kid would be an adventurer. If nobody ages, then I think they’d be a lander, and have to contract in. I wonder if the contract thing has any relation to all the terms/conditions you have to sign when you play/purchase games?? The easiest answer is that they might be an Adventurer with a “child” subclass that promotes growth.
2) Reactions? I think the Landers would be like, “Who cares?” And the Adventurers would lose their minds. It would probably trigger a VERY significant change in mindset among certain groups in the Adventurer population. It means that people can have a life here outside of Found Family - there is a future, here in Theldesia. It would really, really drive home that this is a real, living, breathing world. Some people might not like that, so they might try to get rid of the evidence. On the whole though, I think such a child would be very treasured by its community!
3) Education? I think earth would depend on the community too. Do they want to go back, or not? That would significantly shape education. Could such a child even return? I think that would also depend on the state of their original bodies. I think there would also be more effort made to develop an actual homeschooling and educational system, as well. Can you imagine, take your kid to work day, or teaching magic spells as part of the study program… (ugh I’m jealous)
if a way back to earth was found, what would be consequences of such a thing? such as whether or not some people would stay or the landers flipping out because the adventurers are bailing out on them.
Thanks for your patience! Work bled outside of work hours this week.
So! Wild Mass Guessing time! IMO, the consequences would depend on what type of a “way back to earth” is discovered, and there are three options: 1) mass reversal of the Catastrophe; 2) individual one-way street back to earth; 3) individual two-way street back to earth. Most of these are also predicated on all parties knowing the terms involved (which is unlikely, but who knows). Let’s explore!
1) Mass Reversal of the Catastrophe. Essentially, someone slams the reset button or smashes the applied phlebotinum, and voila! All the Adventurers are back on earth, and no one gets a choice. The Lander reaction here is simple - either they think all the Adventurers are bailing out and there will be no more (and so flip out and try to stop it, with a smaller portion saying “good riddance”) or the effect reversal is known AND explained and they’ll go back to normal operations as a video game. In which case (probably unsaid to the Landers), they won’t care anymore, because from both Lander and Adventurer perspective the other party is now back to being mindless. Now it’s POSSIBLE that things won’t work out like that, but if things don’t just go back how they were, it’s also possible that the Adventurers are getting shoved back into dead bodies or comatose bodies.
The Adventurer reaction is much more interesting here, because it will either be one or the other - and given it’s not an SAO type situation here (to our knowledge), most Adventurers would resent someone taking that choice from them. There are already indications that a number of Adventurers have much better lives in Theldesia than on Earth (Touya, Nureha, Akatsuki, etc). These people are not going to want to leave, and some may violently oppose it if aware. IMO, this is Nureha’s purpose is in controlling Plant Hwyden to “find the way back.” We’ve been explicitly told that her life on Earth sucked, so it’s likely that she’s plotting for her worst case scenario (this one) in order to put herself in control of that reset button, so no one else can press it. Of course, those with strong feelings for family members left behind or traumatized by Theldesia may fight equally hard for the way home. The more violence and “death” there is over this, however, the fewer motivating memories people have to return for...
2) Individual One-way Street. They find a portal or ritual that can return an Adventurer back to earth. They will never be able to come back. Adventurers first this time. Where is it? Depending on the cost involved and scarcity (high-level quests, rare materials, etc), there may be both competition and cooperation to get people back to earth. Those who want to stay might monetize their aid; those who want to leave may band together to achieve the goal. If an individual Adventurer has left significant loved ones or goals and projects behind on earth, they’re going to choose to go back, even if, like Kanami, they really enjoy the world of Theldesia. Adventurers who had shitty lives will stay. Adventurers who have died too many times in Theldesia and have forgotten details that would make them care about earth will stay. Adventurers who don’t particularly care either way will stay, due to effort. If enough people from one guild leave, the whole guild will return to earth, or it will break down and integrate with those who are staying. The reverse is true too - I imagine if the bulk of Log Horizon chose to stay, so would Shiroe and Naotsugu, even if they have loved ones at home.
This one makes Lander response a bit more nuanced! The Adventurer population now turns into a finite resource that will decrease as time passes (unless Adventurers can have children, which has been… somewhat hinted at?). And hey! That’s our protection from the monsters who go bump in the night! Some very short-sighted and stupid Landers may try and threaten or force individual Adventurers to stay, or control the method of return (if known). Smarter ones will compete to sweeten the deal (and relationships) enough to tie Adventurer cities, guilds, or just individuals to the Lander population, so they’re willing to stay. Some nobles might try to take Adventurers on as part of their retained military force; others may try to build relationships to entice them to stay (Demikaas and his Lander wife, though likely not intended in this manner). It might also increase competition between Lander societies with regards to the location of Adventurers on a server (like the cities that bid for Amazon to host their headquarters there).
3) Individual Two-way Street. This is the most ideal outcome, but also raises the most questions. Where is it? How many? Who has access? Adventurers AND Landers? Is it expensive (in terms of materials or difficultly)? Can people from Earth cross to Theldesia? Will they be Adventurers too, or Landers? Do Adventurer’s abilities go away when they return to Earth? Can you carry *stuff* over too? Creatures?
For Adventurers, there’s no real dilemma outside how much it costs, who controls it, and whether people from Earth can come to Theldesia (Kanami’s kid). That last is a big one, because it potentially opens up Theldesia for exploitation and greedy capitalism, depending on who’s in the Know. Shiroe would probably be immediately planning for some kind of customs control or limitations on who comes and goes and for what reasons. But the two-way street removes the finality of the choice.
For Landers, the biggest consideration is how that entry point is managed, who wants to exploit it (if trade of some kind can be managed) and the passage of knowledge. Knowledge is the big one, really; exposure to more detailed Earth technologies would likely springboard them forward quite a bit. They aren’t so worried about the Adventurers abandoning them (though there still may be some bribery), but the Nobles may worry about the commoners running away to earth, and also money on their own parts. They may have mixed feelings about the spread of ideas (the commoners are getting Uppity).
Thanks for the ask! If you or anyone else has additional thoughts, please feel free to add!
one of the things i'm really interested in is how the landers reacted to the adventurers gaining emotions. i can't remember if this was from a fanfic or canon, but the adventurers acted like emotionless robots from their perspective, so them gaining a personality would be shocking.
It’s canon that from the Lander perspective, adventurers were basically “combat automatons” (from the wiki) prior to the Catastrophe! There’s a fic by Raeolu from the perspective of a Lander which may interest you!
Thinking on it, this perspective from the Lander’s may have contributed to the attitudes found among the nobility at the Council of Lords in the face of the goblin army. They’re used to being able to just say to the Adventurers “Hey, there’s a problem! You better go fix it!” and the Adventurers would do it. So the Adventurers being so reluctant to Just Do the Thing probably came as a shock to them.
The Lander reaction is also inextricably tied to how the Adventurer culture of an area works. Are they cohesive? How does the Adventurer’s group dynamics shake out? And we can see this in the difference between how Minami and Akiba interact with the Landers. In North Wen, I think Landers would be extremely cautious of Adventurers outside of certain affiliated groups/guilds - American gamers have such a wide range of possible actions that it would be difficult to predict. What would happen with Adventurers who had killed entire villages of NPCs just for the heck of it? What about Adventurers that get sick of the chaos and go full native and live with Landers?
On the more individual level - I think that there was A Way to talk to Adventurers that was somewhat formalized amongst Landers (due to the nature of it being a game). That everyone knew there were certain phrases you had to use to get their attention. This is ~somewhat the concept I was working off of for the Epics as a headcanon - lore about Adventurers is passed on, Lander to Lander.
But now all of a sudden it’s hit or miss! They’re paying attention to everything you say, and they ask questions about stuff you’re not expecting them to! They may ignore the key phrases for no reason! That one Adventurer who never missed your scheduled bargain hours hasn’t been seen since the Catastrophe! (They weren’t online.)
It’s like all of a sudden your roomba that you loved dearly just never came back one day... and the Google Drive car mapping your neighborhood suddenly has preferences about how clean it is, and what fuel tastes like?

Akatsuki has many things she wants to share with Kakashi. Some things are easy; some are difficult. Some are learning experiences for both of them.
Fourth installment in Ten Thousand Rivers Flow Into the Sea.
Ten Thousand Rivers Flow Into the Sea
Since I’m prepping a fourth installment, I thought I’d take a quick sec to talk about this series in more detail.
Ten Thousand Rivers Flow Into the Sea is an Akatsuki-centric crossover series where Akatsuki, our favorite ninja, gets a chance to grow and learn and interact with others who are equally talented ninja as she. At this point, all interactions have been with Naruto characters. I do have outlines for three additional stories which would introduce characters from three other fandoms (I’m just a terribly slow writer).
Her new primary partner in crime is Kakashi, who will be the most consistently present across all the stories in the series. Other characters will come and go, and some will become new friends, but the majority of their storylines will be more self-contained.
The name of the series is drawn from the Bansenshukai, one of the most famous historical records about ninja. The more hefty stories will be named from its subsections, as Seeking Seishin was.
The whole series takes place inside the world of Elder Tale; all other fandoms will be re-conceptualized within it. The stories with driving plotlines will not drag their entire universe in after them, though there may be references and changes of POV. Each story will be its own, self-contained, plot; I have exactly zero intentions of posting anything that can’t be read as completed.
If I actually manage to make it through all of the plot-centric crossovers I have for this, and stop getting sidetracked by cute Akatsuki and Kakashi feel-good fics, I will potentially be opening up to suggestions for future adventures.
Anyways, the new fic should be up soon, but there will be more to follow!

The Adventurers are slowly starting to figure out all the twists and turns of their new biology. Some things, however, you can’t notice without stimuli. Catnip was bad enough. Nyanta is a cat. Kakashi is a canine. Nyanta had never had any trouble with any Adventurer Wolf-Fang Tribe. Then again, puppies don’t have great impulse control. Serera gets to be the hero. With a broom.
Rating: Gen.

when you’re writing a xover fic and accidently invent a new ship
but the ship doesn’t even sail in that fic, it sails in a far-distant future fic
and yet you can’t wait to bless the ship
@thearchitectlens is now officially First Mate of the ship. If you can guess the ship, you may be granted passage on the ship/exclusive view of potential future ship development.
i don’t know about anyone else but i kinda enjoy coming up with stupid minor scene dressing creatures for log horizon. Credit goes to Vathara, tbh, for addicting me cause I read Dislocation and i was like ! Dazzle Doves! and then i was writing Rock Lee Way of the Ninja and looking for an additional detail to add, and the inspiration hit
what would be equally as irritating as dazzle doves
operatic orioles
just... screaming their little lungs out outside your window, you hear andrea bocelli

You can't make me believe that there wouldn't be a significant subset of the North American player base that have past LARPing experience. Of the more violent variety.

Slowly but surely we approach one year since the last web novel update (March 25, 2018)…
Before volume 14, the longest gap between content was between the end of volume 5 and the beginning of vol6, which lasted nearly a year and 4 months (Aug. 17, 2010 to Dec. 18, 2011). Volume 6 was also the volume published over the longest span of time online, from Dec. 2011 to Mar. 2013 (15 months).
Volume 14 has since overtaken that record: If Mamare continues his average of 11 chapters/volume, we still have around 3 chapters before the volume’s end. As of now, this volume has been getting published over the course of a little over 19 months.
All that said, we know from the Re:Fraction exhibit last May that Mamare hasn’t run dry of content and had a bad case of writer’s block. In fact, he’s gotten enough content all the way up to volume 16 (past his original 15-volume goal), with some teaser snippets and Hara’s illustration sketches. This likely means that volumes 12-16 are in some form of publication discussion and finalization. (I’m not familiar enough with the publishing process to say where they are, though.)
