Connected - Jasper Hale x Reader
Pairing(s): Jasper x Reader
Summary: “There’s nobody like you anymore.”
For @amyhen-15 for her birthday. Sorry it’s so late, I hope you will enjoy it!
It started off small, the things that fueled out friendship. Walking me to my car after school, helping me with books in the library, holding the doors open for me. Then it grew, flowers on my desk, letters in my locker, surprise picnics during lunch, driving me to and from school, introducing me to his family, late nights on the phone, him sneaking over during my parents fights, holding me during the nightmares. It wasn’t even a year before I realized that I was in L-O-V-E with Jasper Hale. His warm tawny gaze like melted gold, his honey-silk locks, alabaster skin, constantly cold to balance out me constantly being hot, but even with that, we hadn’t really labeled what we were, if we were anything.
“What’s the problem?” Jasper asks one day on the way home from school, the lights on the road barely seen through the sheets of rain, soft jazz music plays under the din of his voice, one of his hands is gripping the steering wheel while the other holds my hand.
“You’re an impossibility.” I answer right away, causing him to quirk an eyebrow at me, and I look at him. “Jasper, I’m serious. All these things you do, it’s like you’re trying to court me.”
“And if I am?” He answers, causing my mouth to snap shut, breath stuck in my chest for a moment, before I start directly at the side of his face.
“Nobody does that anymore!” I let out a laugh. “Jasper, I swear, there’s nobody like you anymore.” He jerks his head to look right at me, shocked at my words as I grab the bar above my window nervously. “Holy sh- Look at the road!” I cry out, causing Jasper to turn back to the road, the hand on his steering wheel tightens, to an almost bone-white. “Jasper…” I duck my head a bit, playing with the hem of my blue skirt. “What are you hiding from me?” I finally ask, causing him to sigh, remaining quiet until we pull up outside of my house, he parks the car but leaves it running for the heat as he turns his torso towards me.
“I wish I could tell you, Amy. But… It’s not just my secret to tell.” He answers, causing me to bite my bottom lip, before looking up at him.
“One more question.” He waits patiently, while I fiddle with the hem of my skirt once more. “What are we? Are you trying to court me?” I finally look him in the eye, and he smiles, reaching out to caress my cheek.
“It’s not the way I’d wish it, but yes. I wish to enter a loyal and committed relationship with you, Amy. I’ve come to care deeply for you.” He confesses, causing my heart to sputter, skipping a beat as I smile at him.
“Not too shabby a birthday gift.” I answer teasingly, causing him to blink in surprise, before smiling at me.
“I wish I had known, I would’ve made it a more grandiose gesture.” He answers, causing me to shake my head, before leaning in to kiss him sweetly on the lips.
“This is perfect.” I state, causing him to smile, before pulling me into his arms, and kissing me deeply.
