every time someone's like "wait jeong jeong said only some waterbenders have healing abilities but when we get to the north it seems like everyone could heal if they were trained in it, that's inconsistant" i'm just like well first of all they may not have had the worldbuilding decided yet and second of all jeong jeong, a firebender, may not be the most reliable source on waterbending

Honestly wishing that the Netflix Avatar would just commit to going in a different direction. I’m actually really hoping for this from s3, but that’s not really been the pattern so far so not betting any money on it. I struggled quite a bit with s1 and the changes they made, but in contrast, many of the changes in s2 were tantalising, and the scenes and plot points that were closer to beat for beat remakes of original scenes were somehow more jarring for that. Like, I found myself getting into the changes; let’s say this is an alternate universe where things things are slightly different and the base characters make different choices and go in different directions. I can get behind that if we’re doing interesting things and exploring new facets of the story and themes. But the show keeps yanking me out of my immersion in this new version of events by snapping back to how things went in the original, and feels sometimes like it nixes the new things they’re setting up. I guess what I’m trying to say is that if it’s gonna be different then I’d like it to be different

I’m sorry but….this is hilarious to me😂. Zuko literally leaving his fighting pose to yell at his little sister is both so in character and such a sibling move.

The Toph and Kyoshi scene was unexpectedly delightful. Like, I’m not a big fan of the choice to have Kyoshi just go ‘oh yeah all the answers to all your problems are in my diary and also you should know about this other thing called the Day of Black Sun that’ll be useful to you that’s in there too’ like dropping that into their laps out of nowhere felt odd but the scene before that and the whole “yeah my parents weren’t good people either” “who were your parents?” and having Kyoshi smile a bit and be all like “Exactly” conspiratorially was a delicious moment of commonality and solidarity
