i really think gerard explicitly acting as a mother to the ventriloquist dummy is one of the most compelling things about the lltbp show because like. you see him reading to the child and cradling it and having it wave to the audience, but he also throws it in the air sometimes?? but also when his child is taken away he is heartbroken, and he dies separated from his baby.
i kind of wonder if he knows it's a doll but is a place where he puts all of his hopes and dreams and all of his tenderness and love in a world where he is forced to execute people over and over again. i wonder if he had a real child once and that child was taken from him, either placed somewhere else or killed. and this child is like one of the reborn baby dolls that some bereaved mothers commission after the loss of an infant. so he is at times more cavalier in how he handles the doll but he also is INCREDIBLY emotionally attached and does also treat it at times like a real child.
and then this is taken from him too.
Lowkey this is so paper kingdom coded
oh my fucking god i have to scream
