I've had a bottle of Sand & Sable in my Amazon cart for about a month (because people online said it's the closest smelling thing to Tropical Splash Barbie from 1994) and now I'm referencing it in this chapter and no longer have a choice not to buy it.

Surprise! Within seconds I’ve found a way to make this about Jancy.

Imagine them moving in together and eventually having a joint budget, when they’re still early in their careers and not bringing in the big bucks. Jonathan being appalled at how much money Nancy spent on throw pillows or high thread count sheets or a very fancy espresso machine. Nancy slowly learning what it actually means to budget and being very pissed about it.

“You’re telling me THIS is our water bill? It’s water! It should be free! There’s no way we used that much, I’m gonna call -“

“Welcome to my world, Oliver Twist.”

(And for a while Nancy becomes very strict about how many lights can be on at once and insists the thermostat can stay under 68, they own blankets after all.)
