Hi, welcome to my blog! The name is whatnot. Hungarian woman. Obsessed with Zhuge Liang, Three Kingdoms, and Chinese historical RPF in general. I write, I draw, I craft, and I GIF everything I see. ohhh that's so interesting...modu changyu and liu bang are thematic twins. i was under the impression that they had a lot in common, and rose to power in the vaccum that formed after the death of qin shi huang, but i had no idea it was that closely linked. that the qin aggression actually directly contributed to the evolution of the steppe nomads to form confederations, and turn into a stronger, more organized fighting force.
this article also brings up an interesting point that i haven't considered before; the steppe nomads have less control over their people compared to the han's centralised government + strict control over their people's movements, lands, recordkeeping ect. so the changyus probably couldn't stop smaller tribes from raiding border settlements even if they wanted to.

May I enquire as to your art experiences? 👀👀 curious as to your knowledge of the Way of Conté... I too am familiar with sharing kneaded erasers with art friends hehe
Hi hello!! Thank you for inquiring! Your post brought back a LOT of memories, and it seems it's true for the other way around too, hehe Ah, handing the half of kneaded erasers to friends, sharing the 'good stuff', the good fineliner between each other, borrowing paints... having an artist friend group is such a distinct experience! I miss it a lot, and it is what I'm striving to recreate in this online space as well :')
As for my knowledge of the Way of Conté...I don't pursue art as a carrier (just as hobby that is close to my heart), but I used to go to an art high-school, and it was the last time I touched conté and even a kneaded eraser. Conté was my saving grace there, because I loved the contrast charcoal and other similar materials could achieve on paper, but they were too messy, smudged too easily and I had less control over them. (Barely just looking at my old drawings can stain my hand. We used to seal/fix the drawings with hairspray. NOT a perfect DIY method. ) So conté was just the perfect one, without all those compromises. What I also loved to do with is was to use it on toned paper, which could serve as the mid-tones for the drawing.
Anyway, you got me very curious about your art experiences too (sitting down for some conté talk!) as well as what other art medium you like (and what's your favorite 👀)! I saw a lot of different things being used in your art posts, which I find really motivating (as I confined myself to digital art mostly these days..trying to get out of my comfort zone slowly!)
Omg we are like artistic cousins... I too went to a fairly Involved art high school. Never did it as a career but it was my outlet through university till now. Lots of different blorbos in lots of different mediums <3
Relate HARD to "i created so much Big Art in high school". I have a 4ft x 4ft self portrait on wood that is sitting in my basement right now that. I can neither get rid of due to what a formative piece it was for me, but I cant really hang it because, well, its a lot to have BIG PORTRAIT of teenage me.
I stick to physical media because I do ostensibly do a Computer Job and so a hobby that involves less screen is good for me! It does however have the disadvantage of taking up physical space, mediums run out and cost money, OR get bought, used for 1-2 projects and then moulder for a while. You would not believe how many moves I did with my paints before accepting that I was never going to have the space, time and desire to do canvas mixed media again.
I have slowed down a bit in the last few years due to Job and getting into gardening + sewing, but a good new blorbo and some vacation time can usually bring me back to the sketchbooks :D
The art school kid experience is sure something else! About the Big Art phenomenon... even though I wouldn't purchase such big papers and canvases again, there was something unique about working on a gigantic surface with not just the wrist, but with the whole arm being involved. Yes, I dreaded these assignments back then, but sometimes art school was a good excuse to get out of the comfort zone, which I do miss a lot. You take the medal with the 4 ft tall painting though, I myself never ventured that far! :D Another thing we match in, is that I also have a Computer Job. Being in front of less screen is a good habit, keep it up! But yes... the space these projects sometimes eat up is also a bit of a problem for me. I only have one desk that I share work and crafts with, which is a pain, and it holds me back from doing it spontaneously. Not to mention that the materials, as you said, can get a little costly :')
Anyhow, it is good to hear that you are picking up/back more activities like gardening and sewing too! Wishing you all the best with your various projects!
More process on the Him. I am happy with this direction! The conté will find its way back in a supporting role. For now...the Hatch

Little conté study of Sun Shangxiang to refamiliarize myself with my conté set. I am a little challenged in materials / tools here. I lack right now a kneaded eraser which is really essential to doing a bigger piece...will try to nab one from the city this weekend.
I also think this palette and vibe is a bit off for what I want from my Zhuge Liang piece...contemplating a change in medium...
I will continue to add elements to my works that I want to read about but rarely find in fanfiction. Be the change you want to see etc etc

This has come up in a WeiLiang fic of mine, and it's not a secret that it will surface again in another upcoming work but Zhuge Liang being so sickly that he can't really get it up (fully), has become one of my favorite bits to write about. Call me biased because I find the idea of a soft cock still desirable, but consider the following: yes, it's not getting up, but that doesn't mean Zhuge Liang will not find pleasure in sex. my royal architects are trying out this incredibly trendy new thing called “funerary effigies,” where we have statues of people put into my mausoleum, instead of the traditional human sacrifices that have been practiced since the Great Shang. so, unfortunately, you will not be buried with me in person, but i’ve been told it’s every bit as good as retaining your spirit as the real deal! hope this isnt too disappointing, i know you were really looking forward to it.

He secretly hoped the man would check his fever by kissing his forehead like always, but it seemed, Zhuge Liang deemed that to be too inappropriate now. Nevertheless, his xiangfu kept him company for a while until he coughed lightly and said, "If you continue to neglect your studies like this, your father will not tolerate it… but I can tell him you need to rest for a few days until you can catch up." Warmth quickly rushed to Liu Shan's face, and he quickly hid under the blanket. He only felt the weight on the bed shift slightly next. After Zhuge Liang left, a bitter feeling welled up in Liu Shan's heart. He sat quietly for a while before sullenly picking up the scroll beside the bed. Not for his father's sake, he insisted.
