Unsolicited Proposal for the Entire Class for a Hypothetical Cartoon Voice Actor Hall of Fame
- Western only. If someone else wants to do anime/eastern work, be my guest. I'm just not skilled in knowing who's who in that realm.
- Not video games. I only included Frank Welker's voicing of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in the Epic Mickey games as an example because Oswald is a significant character in Disney history, and Disney chose Welker to be the official voice actor for the character as he returned to that company's ownership. So far, however, he's only appeared in video games in this capacity. Again, if someone else wants to do one for video games, be my guest.
- I originally wanted to exclude those who were more famous OUTSIDE voice acting, but then I realized that I'd be excluding some very important people who work very hard. Mark Hamill's an example. Same with Phil Hartman, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer and Seth MacFarlane. Same with Walt Disney.
- I included Boris Karloff because he did one voice, but it's a significant, iconic voice. Same with Walt Disney.
- The roles you see next to each entry are not necessarily the best roles for each actor, but rather the ones most people would recognize.
Knowing it would get unwieldy, I split the Hall of Fame into three wings:
- Versatility Wing: The men and women of a thousand voices, pretty much.
- Iconic Role Wing: Known for one specific role, even if the actor has done other roles (Dan Castellaneta is the prime example of someone I had to fight putting in two wings).
- Creator's Wing: Creators of their own role(s).
And now, the list, alphabetical order by first name.
