Even looking at cases where mentally ill people ARE violent towards others, if you look closely there's a lot of cases of a mentally ill person being denied autonomy or otherwise abused leading to said mentally ill person acting out violently in direct response to this - but instead of looking at this cycle in the context of how traumatizing and triggering a lot of psychiatric treatment is, and how intensely people can react to being dehumanized, all it ever leads to is pointing at every example of violent behavior as proof that mentally ill people can't and shouldn't be trusted with the autonomy which might have prevented a violent altercation altogether.
If a neurotypical person being kidnapped, locked up, restrained, forcibly drugged , and they fight back, it's called self-defense.
But since these things are systemically acknowledged as valid medical "treatment" for mental illness, responding to it with violence in a psychiatric context gets pathologized as irrational behavior in a way it wouldn't be if a person fought back against being drugged and locked up outside the context of carceral psychiatry. Emotionally it's the exact same experience, but we don't get to claim self defense because carceral violence towards us isn't commonly recognized as a crime.
So the subplot of Holes is that Kate Barlow deals with the politically-sanctioned execution of her black boyfriend—who unlawfully kissed a white woman who was in love with him!!!—by becoming a serial killer who targets racist/sexist white dudes who harassed her, were rejected, then went after her boyfriend as revenge from the depths of the “friend zone”.
Go off Louis Sachar, let em know!
Don’t forget the main plot was a damning satire of the brokenness and inherent racism of the American justice and prison systems! Louis Sachar does not fuck about
It always fuck me up that older people don’t understand how this story is as essential to most american children as Gone with the Wind or Mary Poppins was.
unironically, this is one of the best books/movies for young people that exists
Kissing Kate Did Nothing Wrong
And the technical writing of Holes is perfect. Like, it’s one of the most technically-perfect books ever written. Basically any plotting or pacing or characterization issue you’re having, read Holes and really study how Sachar did it. THE LIZARDS! THE LIZARDS.
the twisty prophecies! the lizards! the lipstick! the humor! this book doesn’t play. a true classic.
and! in a twist, it’s actually the most accurate depiction of archaeology across pretty much all media!

Biggest fuck-up ever is that people have to pay to become doctors
Like unironically we should be subsidising at least 50% of their educations. What do you mean we have a shortage of doctors we should have surplus. What do you mean they’re being overworked they should be treated like royalty, they can fix human bodies
I don’t care if some of them are only doing it for the money. I don’t care if all of them are only doing it for the money. Intentions don’t matter to the stitches in my nana’s leg or the ten billion other lifesaving treatments we all get at a detriment to their finances and mental wellbeing. Entire cities are kept alive by just a couple thousand of them what are we DOINGGGGG
If we had more, maybe it would be easier to get the shitty ones fucking replaced. The board isn't going to do much to the only endocrinologist in the state who takes Medicaid, you know? But if there were more than, idk, maybe 5? Maybe then?
More importantly if you needed less money and less physical stamina to become a doctor, people with less money and less physical stamina could become doctors, which would increase diversity and improve patient care.
Medical professionals of all stripes are providing key services for people. It shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to get certified.
I can understand why a lot of programs take a long time .... there's a lot to learn, and you want your professionals to be qualified. But that doesn't mean that you need to be wealthy to become a doctor.

Someone said “The slow burn of becoming yourself” and I think that might be one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. It’s such a good reminder of how much it takes, how much character development, how much change, and beauty and courage it takes to reach your soul and I hope no one ever gives up on becoming themselves because it’s a never ending journey that only gets better.
So glad to see that people have been enjoying Scarlet Hollow's rumors update! An announcement for those who have yet to pick up the game: We'll be increasing Scarlet Hollow's price to $29.99 on August 13th, (with adjusted regional pricing) once the current discount ends. This will be Scarlet Hollow's final price increase. So even if you're waiting until 1.0 to crack it open, now will be the cheapest you'll be able to grab the game for quite a while! (And I think exploring and theorizing with the community while the story is still unfinished is half the fun ^^) One million words of branching content (so far), and thousands of hand-illustrated art assets await you... If you already own Slay the Princess, pick up our special bundle on Steam for a bit of an extra discount while you're at it...
"dni if you engage with irredeemable media! dni to kill a mockingbird stans" ok well CLEARLY you have never read to kill a mockingbird if you think it's irredeemable media and also having a book that was published in 1960 on your dni stan list is kinda ridiculous actually
i literally do not think any of you have ever read a book published before the 2000s before in your entire life
#'Dni if you've read to kill a mockingbird' what's is this the Florida banned books list #Who r u Ron DeSantis
#can somwone pleasw provide context to whatever the fuck op is referring to
You really buried the lede by only mentioning To Kill a Mockingbird
Undertale?? THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS???

i dont get offended at white people jokes even though im white because:
i can recognize white people as a whole have systemically oppressed POC in america, which is where i live
most people when they make white people jokes only mean the shitty white people and i am not a shitty white person
im not a pissbaby
my white friends that have reblogged this give me life
4. Sometimes I am a shitty white person and the jokes remind me to FUCKIN STOP
If ur white and like this post I fux with u
^absolutely
5. It’s hard to be offended when white people jokes involve bland food/tourist dads in socks and sandals/white girls in yoga pants obsessed with pumpkin spice/suburban PTA moms and other harmless and mostly true stereotypes while jokes about POC involve them being called thugs/criminals/slurs/uneducated/illegal immigrants.
i fucks with u heavy if ur white and you reblog this
6. They’re usually really fucking funny and don’t perpetuate stereotypes that will ever affect me economically, politically, or cause me any true harm, let alone create risks that “justify” my murder and/or death
Like a new friend!
