Look, I was fine with watching a show were buddie never went canon. I was a tv fan through the 2010s, I’m used to shipping queer ships that will never happen.

But a show in 2025 so blatantly spinning up a media storm around a beloved slash pairing in an attempt to recover viewership after the backlash to a disastrous character death storyline, only for it to come to nothing is where I draw the line. If it had just been the material in the show I’d say fair enough, it was just us with shipper googles (though even that was pushing it) but the buddie press tour this week was not that. It was an intentional effort to drag back fans that they had lost by hinting at a storyline they never intend to carry out.

This was queer bait, pure and simple.

The fact that one of the characters is canonically queer does not negate that. They spent a solid week shopping Ryan and Oliver out to every single press outlet they could to talk about Buck and Eddie’s relationship, to cheekily sidestep questions about buddie, to read thirst tweets about each other to generate buzz. Because they knew that’s what would happen.

They knew killing Bobby damaged their relationship with their longtime viewers and so they thought by leaning on buddie they’d get the viewer boost they needed for the finale.

We were used, plain and simple.

I’m out.

Oh this is fucking amazing. Eddie already has tremendous guilt for not being there to help save Bobby.
