"Streaming is the future" they said. We don't need Physical Media or Toonami anymore" they said.
“Maybe didn’t save Superman, but we saved you, Clark. We saved the future…didn’t we?”
- Lois Lane, My Adventures with Superman (Ep. 05)
This Toonami Trending Rundown is a double-feature for the nights of July 4-5 and 11-12, 2026. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and much like the fine people of the United States of America in general, Toonami remains persistent during both good times and bad.
For the social media buzz on the night of July 4-5, #Toonami trended in the United States on Twitter alongside My Adventures with Superman, Blue Lock, and Tokyo Revengers. And this all despite 4th of July celebrations were going on at the same time.
Meanwhile on the night of July 11-12, #Toonami trended in the U.S. on Twitter alongside My Adventures with Superman, and Tokyo Revengers. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr alongside #dc and My Adventures with Superman.
Kinta Sakata: You have some explaining to do. Is the point of you and your girlfriend and your powers, to protect the Earth from Kaiju attacks? Okarun: Umm, no. Not really. Miss Ayase and I are looking for a Golden Ball. Others are looking for it, too. Ghosts and aliens. We have to get it back before they find it. Kinta: Are you saying the fate of Planet Earth depends on who finds this golden ball? Okarun: It's not that important, actually. Kinta: Alright, I get it. If things are as dire as you say, I’ll lend you...my power! - Dan Da Dan (Ep. 24)
This Toonami Trending Rundown is for the month of June 2026. Among other moments, this month featured the season 3 premiere of My Adventures with Superman, the season 2 finale of Dan Da Dan, and the return of the HD remaster of IGPX.
"Finding your weapon is the first requirement of being a striker. After you do, polish and sharpen your tool...until it shimmers.
Take the world-famous Argentinian striker Leo Messi. He's uniquely quick and graceful dribbling is the first weapon he possesses. The second is how he kicks a left footed shot. In these respects, he's the most prominent player on the planet. And this is why he continues to reign as one of the world's best strikers.
As I mentioned, each of you has a different weapon. So naturally how you polish it will also be different. Just copying Messi won't make it shine any brighter. Turning 0 into 1 requires a unique weapon, but once you find it, how will you enhance it? Find your one-of-a-kind play and make it stand out. Your talent is an uncut gem; you have to put in the work if you want to know it's true worth."
- Jinpachi Ego, Blue Lock (Ep. 05)
“The White Demon, it seems our paths are already deeply intertwined. You just wait for me, Sarah. Even that brat [Hikari] was able to be saved. So, Sarah, I promise I’m going to get you back.” - Keiji, Rooster Fighter (Ep. 12)

And on a scheduling note, there won’t be an encore run of Rooster Fighter or a replacement show for Dan Da Dan just yet. This Saturday, Toonami will be airing an encore run of Blue Exorcist at 3:00 a.m. EDT, and next Saturday, June 27, Toonami will bring back IGPX at 2:00 a.m, with Blue Lock, Tokyo Revengers, and One Piece all moving up the schedule by 30 minutes.

This week’s feature was a special promo for Mortal Kombat II, the upcoming sequel to the Mortal Combat film released in 2021. Directed by Simon McQuoid, written by Jeremy Slater, and produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is scheduled for release in theaters this Friday, May 8, 2026.
April 29, 2026 marked the exact date Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale takes place canonically. To commemorate the occasion, Aniplex hosted a virtual concert on YouTube featuring Yuna, a key character in the film, performing “Ubiquitous dB” and “longing.” While the songs are still voiced by the late Sayaka Kanda, due to her unfortunate passing back in 2021 at the age of 31, newer lines were voiced by Risae Matsuda. The stream ended with a teaser for a new original SAO anime film, with further information to be revealed in July.
While the One Piece anime and manga is far from over, Toei Animation along with Wit Studio and Netflix is presently working on a readaptation of the anime that could potentially be easier to digest for newer viewers. Titled “The One Piece,” the first season of this One Piece remake, the East Blue arc, will cover the first 50 chapters in 7 episodes. It will be batch-released on Netflix in February 2027.
Finally, we now know when My Adventures with Superman season 3 will be released. In an exclusive reveal by Entertainment Weekly on Friday, May 1, the season premiere is scheduled to air on Toonami this June 13 at midnight EDT/PDT. The show will be available for streaming on HBO Max the following day.
Until next time, stay gold, and feel free to donate to Mike McFarland’s GoFundMe if you can as he continues his battle against glioblastoma. And we send our thanks today to Ted Turner, co-founder of Cartoon Network and other Turner Broadcasting (now part of WBD) Networks, who has passed away at the age of 87. Say what you will about Ted, but no doubt he was a pioneer for cable television with the likes of CNN, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS, and the like. And with Cartoon Network in particular, gave us the first ever television channel dedicated solely for cartoons and laid the groundwork for what would become the Cartoon Cartoons and Cartoon Network/Warner Bros original productions overall, Boomerang, Adult Swim, and Toonami. Rest in peace, Ted. Thanks for shaping our childhoods, and may your legacy continue for many years to come.

“The moment Bachira passed to Chigiri, a simulation popped into my head, and I ran to the weakest part of the field. I knew if I could get there and occupy that space, we could keep the ball and unleash a wave of attacks. That was my inspiration. Because of my spatial awareness, I was able to run a simulation based on all of our own weapons, the game conditions, and the events playing out on the field. Now I see, so that's how I use it. With these eyes and my brain, I can foresee the future of the field. That's the missing piece. That's how I make my own goals.” - Yoichi Isagi, Blue Lock (Ep. 10)
