Vacation Day Five of Twelve (December 15th, 2015): Visited the place that inspired one of my favourite albums - Bright Eyes, Cassadaga. The tattoo on my right forearm is from the artwork of the album and the pillar where I’m standing is the place where Conor Oberst from the band was standing in this photograph:
(Source of above image: https://westartedsomething.wordpress.com/2007/04/09/bright-eyes-cassadaga/)
It took a bit of searching to find the pillar where the photograph was taken but the locals graciously directed me to this pillar and informed me that the sign had been changed a few years back.

me: *is bitter but is also right*
i read a really interesting response to this very question once.
good food is one of the only luxuries millennials can feasibly afford. with student debt, job insecurity, and an increased cost of living millennials can no longer afford to indulge in the past generations luxuries. things like cars, houses, even travel! a good meal is honestly one of the only things we can treat ourselfs to, so shut the fuck up and let us enjoy our fucking food
nailed it in one
never thought of it like that
Also, I love that even food is too much not to go unnoticed and unfit for ridicule. “How dare them kids, with their…. eATING?? tHE yOUTH needs.. nUTRIENTS, to, SUBSIST???? Look at how useless they are, all those organs processing matter into.. ENGeRY, sHOULD BE USED TO PULL THEM UP BY THEIR BOOTSTRAPS INSTEAD!!”
We were going to do a “Top 10 Awful Displays of Sexism on Fox News” video, but the clips just kept rolling in. Here are 70.
I want to throw up
Uhm.. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?
Pieces of shit.
I want to point out the quote from the man commenting on the catcall video. “Its their bar, and she’s walking through” He is literally excusing harassing women on the street because it’s “a mans street anyways” and if you are going to walk through a males territory, expect this kind of treatment. They are all horrible quotes, but this one stuck to me because it is literally telling us that it is a mans world and to put up with this treatment.
this is absolutely horrifying
Disgusting!
BuzzFeed just gets me.
Ian Mercer, father of the man who killed nine people and wounded nine others at Umpqua Community College, spoke to CNN Saturday. In the interview Mercer called the event “devastating” and explained he was still trying to understand it, but he took the time to issue a passionate call for the U.S. to restrict access to firearms.
too right
Friendly reminder that white Western voluntourism (in addition to being the sentimental racist crap that is) can actually do far more harm than good.
Let me preface this by saying that is a competition entry for Stayz.com.au Back in the day, back in 2005, back when I was 15 my parents decided to spoil my little brother and I with a trip to the magical land of Club Med - Lindeman Island. This was a time where I was, as the great Britney Spears so powerfully put it “not a girl, not yet a woman”. But not in a gross way, in a kind of exciting way.
On the first day of the trip my translucent skin got so severely sunburnt that the photos I have from that evenings dinner and activities are actually scorched with the colour of my skin. A boy I met and crushed on broke his collar bone on his second day and had to spend the remainder of the trip playing xbox one handed in the totally kool kidz club for kool kidz with a k.
I made friends with a large group of kids from the totally kool kidz club (mentioned above) and we got up to a medium to high amount of mischief. Because I was 15, I remember feeling very ~independent~ and ~mature~ The rag tag group of kids that I made friends with decided that it would be really cool to do shots of straight red cordial, take photos and pretend that it was alcohol. Mature. Independent.
Please note the awesome photograph of myself on some sort of 4 wheeled machine that I most certainly couldn’t turn on let alone ride. As much as I may look back and burn with embarrassment at all the really lame things I did when I was 15, I feel like that particular holiday really made me feel like I was part of a community, something I value in my life today. I may not still be friends with the group of people I met on that holiday, but I can still remember the sense of community that I felt for those 7 glorious days.
You need to be prime minister for two years or more to get the pm pension and Abbott was four days short. I'm laughing so much
AHAHAHAHA
