Reminder for those shipping mail within, or to, Canada: Canada Post has been on strike since November 15 and is still on strike. No mail is being delivered or processed.
The United States Postal Service has suspended mail to Canada, meaning packages are either being returned to sender or are stuck in limbo at USPS facilities.
UPS and Purolator are struggling with the backlog and halting some mail processing.
It seems DHL and Fedex are still operational, at least at the time of this post, but ofc they're going to be vastly busier than usual.
Canada Post's strike has cost businesses close to $1 billion since the strike started. These people perform a crucial, affordable service, and man am I exhausted seeing Canadians whine and complain about Canada Post's shortcomings while the corporation is brute-forced employees to get back to work during strikes, suffering with wildly unsustainable finances, and the Canada Postal Service Charter which set the base expectations for Canada Post's services hasn't been updated since the government under Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper established it back in 2009.
It's wild to me that a service so essential, so integral to Canada's mail service as a whole, doesn't even receive federal funding to support it. Canada Post's rates are the cheapest for many Canadians, and may be the only courier available for rural Canadians in some areas.
It boggles me further when people criticize Canada Post while also putting their votes in for Liberal or Conservative parties when these are the parties repeatedly setting it up to fail, or ordering the workers back to work without any meaningful resolution or improvements being made. Yall, the NDP party is right there backing the Canada Post employees and are willing to work with their demands for fair pay etc. We Could get improved mail service if you'd just pay attention and vote accordingly.
I know the Canada Post employee that delivers mail to my building. He's a very chill dude, and I'm hoping he's doing okay during all this.
TLDR: Wishing all Canada Post employees a very:
Safe working conditions
Livable wages
Better medical coverage and care
Security for their jobs and retirement
me, having deeply fallen out of the practice of writing poetry: I can’t write any more, I am now a Talentless Hack
the voice of my 11th grade journalism/12th grade creative writing teacher who rly did know everything: if you stop writing for a while the words will build up and stagnate. to clear the water, you will have to open the dam completely, and accept the fact that what initially comes out will not be palatable
This. This is so true. Starting again is more important than what you actually write. You are rusty. You’ll build up momentum again. All you need to do is start.
Ma so stupendi
Do you have any tips for learning to accept nice things?
no but mrs le guin has you covered
you will live and you will say the wrong things and make mistakes and people will love you anyways.
i made this post because i've got so many friends that think saying something wrong in a conversation is the end of the world. it isn't. you'll be okay. you don't have to be embarrassed about every little thing. you are alive and doing things and speaking to people. you will make mistakes and you will live.
"how can m/f ships be good-" first of all through the power of bisexuality anything is possible so write that down. second of all if we start othering ships based on gender and nothing else we're no better than the opposition. third of all you need to watch more addams family
