◈ badgerclops LOVES to fluster mao mao by complimenting him (esp by calling him cute ofc)

◈ as tough as mao mao can be, he’s really just a soft liddol kitty, but he only lets badgerclops see him be that vulnerable

◈ mao mao tends to fall asleep on badgerclops, on his shoulders, tummy, arms, you name it

◈ who made the first move? mao mao. badgerclops always hesitated bc he knew how closed off he could be so he didn’t want to overwhelm him

◈ mao mao is VERY protective of adorabat

◈ he just cares so much abt her and wants to see her succeed

◈ badgerclops is the more chill dad 

◈ one time they got into an arguement over whether they should let her be more independent (it was fine in the end)

◈ head scritches? ABSOLUTELY

◈ badgerclops, watching mao climb onto the table: he likes to be tall

◈ it makes him seem more “intimidating” (and because it’s easier for them to kiss but he’ll never admit that)

◈ badgerclops helped mao mao see worth in himself. for a long time, he thought he was useless for the longest time, but badgerclops made sure he’d never feel like that again

◈ they tend to joke around a lot, pretending to be mean to each other

◈ mao mao tries his hardest to hide their relationship around adorabat in the beginning, but even then she figured it out (they’re not that good at pretending)

◈ before they adopted met adorabat, they probably spent a LOT of time together like. travelling around trying to find a place to leave your legacy with your best friend brings you REAL close after a while

◈ i mean think abt it……the nights together….mao being too tired to keep up his tough facade…. and badgerclops is SMITTEN

◈ mao mao does this. this face when he wants a kiss because he refuses to ask for it himself

◈ and this one’s just a lore hc but. i like to think mao mao was the runt of the litter and abandoned by his family bc nobody ever thought he’d make it,, but he survived on his own, which just led him to be very lonely and closed off until badgerclops came around

I think this scene and the episode itself has very important lesson in it: it's okay to move on by expressing your emotions, and that's if you feel like you have the right support on your side.

Adorabat had opened up Mao Mao's heart a lot more than Badgerclops ever has but it is a little different between the married couple- I mean, friends, because Mao Mao told Badgerclops stories about his dreams for the future and past stories. While as Adorabat had literally traced out the emotional support that her daddy needed to let go of Bao Bao, and what happened between his old traveling companion. It's super cute to see Adorabat cry with her dad because she feels his hurting heart. She is such an emotional character that her innocence, her care, and her just understanding her guardian's pain is why Mao Mao started bawling his eyes out at the very end of this episode. He did reunite with an old pet and right away, just as he showed up, motherfucking dog disappeared because of a butterfly.

Now, Mao Mao only ever wanted someone to place as a loyal companion, partner, or even sidekick to help him become a legendary hero through their adventures. Mao Mao was already super attached to this dog as a teen and he had a right to feel betrayed; who wouldn't be pissed off that he was a result of losing Mao Mao's tail? That sucks ass, my dears. He thought he finally found a perfect match to help fight monsters with, make memories, and even help him emotionally with his troubled past from his family. Dogs are super awesome but they one-minded, and Mao Mao seemed to forget that Bao Bao isn't like the other anthropomorphic animals; he's super dense. With losing all that Mao Mao had in a friend, he soon gained a cold heart against his canine companion, as well as close relationships.

Now, it's only different in their present time because these two, Adorabat and Badgerclops, are super determined to not lose Mao Mao but instead to try to be as supportive as they can. From his attitude and PTSD flashbacks, those two can clearly see Mao Mao needs emotional help with a HUGE voice to help tune out what he thinks is best when it clearly is not. He is still a kid at heart and Adorabat is super aware that Mao Mao is a hero, but a troubled hero and she truly wants to be the hero he always needed; a family member who loves him, for him.

Not forgiving Bao Bao is not just what Mao Mao needed. He needed a wall to let him lean on and not laugh at his face. Badgerclops couldn't be as emotionally close and teary eyed like Adorabat because he is a grown man. Mao Mao needed someone close his age, emotionally, that of a child's like Mao Mao still does have. He needed Adorabat more than ever and nobody realizes this, but she just saved his heart from breaking even more. This time, she was there and letting Mao Mao know he is not alone, he can cry it out, and he doesn't have to be afraid to settle on giving the dog a proper goodbye in his life, as well as his heart.

If only Adorabat could realize she is a super hero in that kitty cat's big, tough ass life. And even Badgerclops decided to try and be a part of Mao Mao's soft side cause he knows he could never do that; only Adorabat can. In a very healthy and beautiful way, that girl is going to be the most important person in Mao Mao's life now more than ever before :) and she just became a new little hero for Mao Mao in his kid heart. Good luck to this family is what I say :) good job, Adorabat.
