In Tennessee, sleeping outside on public land is now a felony. That means up to 6 years, a $3,000 fine, and the loss of your right to vote. A first domestic assault charge here is a misdemeanor, capped at 11 months.
In parts of Nashville, longtime residents say rent has tripled in 5 years. When people get priced out and end up sleeping outside, you will be broken with a criminal record.
"After years of enduring severe pain from a broken back navigating the obstacles of the health insurance system… I learned that UHC would be holding an annual investor conference in NYC on Dec. 4 2024.
In Nov. 2024 I traveled from outside of New York State to Manhattan. I then emailed UHC leadership posing as an investor at a firm managing over $50 billion in assets and requesting information about the conference. Unlike my previous interactions with insurers, I received an immediate response within an hour.
I traveled to NY ... with the intent to shoot Brian Thompson. On the morning of Dec. 4, 2024, I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan and he died. When I did so I understood that my actions would place him in fear of death or serious bodily injury. I knew what I was doing was illegal.”
Transphobia is being signed into law in the UK. Let's fight it together.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the rescheduled Mass Lobby at Parliament, now on Wed Sept 9th, 1pm-5pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
The law around trans equality is fundamentally broken. Government inaction is hanging trans people and organisations out to dry - with a con
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It became statutory guidance in the UK on August 5th, 2026.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Our demands have changed. Ask your MP to:
Write to Ministers and Prime Minister Andy Burnham to say they are profoundly concerned by the rolling back of trans rights, and that they believe that it is time for Parliament to legislate to protect equality for trans people.
Ask parliamentary questions focused on protecting trans people’s rights and defending trans people’s abilities to live safe and dignified lives.
Speak up both inside and outside Parliament in defence of trans people’s rights.
Meet regularly with trans constituents to understand their lived realities.
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
We have already had some wins because we took action. The 2026 EHRC guidance has already rolled back its most harmful elements because of mass campaigning by individuals like us, and groups like The Good Law Project. This summer, 166 MPs signed the Early Day Motion 240 to reject the EHRC Code of Practice, because of our campaigning. That is 1 in 4 MPs.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Worried about what to say?
Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. On the day, you'll get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.
Here is an online briefing for lobbyists (10 mins read for essential info, 20 mins for details)
Money issues?
Trans Solidarity Alliance provides a travel bursary that you can sign up for via the link.
Got a refusal or no response from your MP?
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination. e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee. If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73). A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).
Here is the Good Law Project's better explanation of the EHRC Code.

If you are not in the UK but want to support the case, please donate to The Good Law Project.
Save the date and book off work!! I will see you there :))
The Democrats are far from perfect. And there’s way too many of them in the halls of power who are enmeshed in the status quo, or who are too beholden to corporate interests to challenge the stranglehold the rich hold over us.
But they’re also not the ones voting to roll back rights and make the world an actively worse place.
Voting against someone instead of for someone sucks. But sometimes it’s all you’ve got. With the Republicans now in full on unmasked evil mode, we’re just trying to survive.
I will always vote for the person who might be lying about wanting to help people when the alternative is someone telling the truth about wanting to hurt people. And in the USA, you almost never have a viable third choice, it sucks, but it's a hard truth. Given a long enough time, you can turn the "lies about wanting to help" party into the "sometimes tells the truth about wanting to help people," but that requires a lot of voting for likely liars in the general.
Democrats gave y'all the ACA and Republicans gutted every single regulation and stripped Americans of their healthcare, and here y'all are hand-wringing with this performative "Gosh, it sure does suck having to constantly choose between safe salads and explosive ass-blast diarrhea."
if you decide to become a police officer then that outweighs any other marginalised identity you can rustle up like. not sorry, who asked you to willingly become a pig
I have heard of black people warning their kids that the race of a police officer is cop and you should not expect solidarity from them. The same applies to other types of minorities.
The sexuality of a police officer is cop.
The gender of a police officer is cop.
When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.
If you want solidarity with those the system hates, you cannot be the system's servant and defender.
Jason Arday was killed by a racist witch hunt, plain and simple.
It's true that Cambridge University failed in their duty of care to Arday by putting him a position of power that left him vulnerable to intense scrutiny that he clearly couldn't handle, but it's also true that the media circus around this has been completely overblown and honesty quite disgusting to watch.
The media took the petty grievances of a racist with a grudge and turned what should have been a minor controversy into a borderline harassment campaign against a man who most of us didn't even know existed until a week ago.
This was never a story about a professor lying, it was a story about a black man lying.
People of colour are not aloud to be flawed, that is a privilege that seems to be reserved for white people only despite it being something that is true for every person.
Nobody is perfect, but not everyone gets to be Imperfect.
It's honestly impressive how Farage manages to keep out-embarrassing himself.
This is the same guy who would film himself saying stuff like "Big Chungus" and "Up the RA" for a few quid.
He ate a four-penis pizza topped with members from a sheep, bull, pig and crocodile on live tv.
Now he's gone and thrown a party for himself to celebrate beating a man dressed as a bin in a fake by-election that he triggered in order to delay an investigation into a 5 million gift he got from a thai crypto billionaire.
farage may have won the byelection, as we all expected, but it's still very much a pyrrhic victory imo.
even in the constituency he specifically chose for the high proportion of magic bean and bridge buyers, he still only got 62.82% of the vote. count binface got 26.71% of the vote, meaning that over a quarter of people in his specifically chosen constituency looked at farage and decided to vote for the talking bin. congrats, mate, you beat a bin.
his credibility has also been damaged. he's spent his summer essentially arguing with a bin in a vanity circus that's cost the taxpayer £250,000. he can't say he beat 'the establishment' because the main parties didn't turn up. he refused to stand on the stage with everyone else and go to the declaration, and also lied about the police telling him not to go. the entire thing has exposed just how shit of a politician he really is and how shit his party is.
and at the end of all this, the investigation into him is still going to continue. there will likely be another byelection called, meaning another £250,000 is going to be wasted in the coming months.
what a loser lmao. at least the count got his deposit back this time.
Not sympathising with her, but the fact she’s got two very young children at home (one is a newborn) and this would have left them motherless is egregious even by Trump standards.
